I was thinking something like this. It'd be really interesting to have a male tent devoted to things like mental health and our inability to talk about it. Bit heavy for a festival like but there's loads of fun stuff they could put in there too.

It's shocking how many men avoid using services available to them to get help with a whole manner of things. Especially much of the time it's because by admitting they need help affects their ego or some bull like that.

I agree that a men only space could be quite useful.  And I bet several pounds that such a venue being announced would not attract a 17 page thread debating whether it was ok as a concept or if it was even needed.

Actually I think it's got to this page by people agreeing that this is a good idea. I've only briefly read it but I can only see a few people who don't think it's necessary or don't see the point.

This women only space has certainly stimulated debate here. Most of it has been healthy and interesting too. Good to see the festival can still do this.

I'd now like to see this picked up by the press, the issues it raises are important and are not being addressed nearly well enough.

I say this as a dad with two teenage daughters who have just started going to gig's.

Oh and I have been groped by women at gigs a couple of times. It wasn't enjoyable!

I have to say it's really made me very happy to read the thoughts of many of the men who have posted in this thread. I had no idea there were so many men out there who care about this stuff. Definitely warms the cockles.

I would have exactly the same problem with a male only venue.

Neil Young was awesome last night btw.

So given that you don't want anything that may impact on male privilege, how would you tackle the current levels of inequality experienced by women?

Pitchfork went to review it but found it shut.

Noisey, however, found it open:

Marvellous - if that write up is anything to go by I hope it's there again making people happy next time

Took me until late into my third night in Shangri-la to join the dots and work out that the little nail salon place I'd been turned away from was actually the Sisterhood. I'd been wondering around trying to work out if it actually existed. I'm slow.

I went in a few times. It was a smallish venue with a bar, mini stage, dj booth and lots of couches and cushions. Lovely little retreat in Shangri La and the woman who ran it was brand new, happy to chat away. Had a picture of Jo Cox up as a tribute which was a nice touch.
