Yes I can see them headlining Glastonbury next year as well, I thought at the end of last year they might be confirmed to headlining Glastonbury this year but obs working in the studio. Could they do both or just one or the other next year?

I'd much rather see them do Glastonbury than Biffy Clyro who most people seem to have down for it, although I think R&L is more likely.

But if Biffy do have a new album out next summer they'll no doubt do at least some festival gigs and Glasto is one of the few major ones they've not headlined. It'd be better if they were to do that then return to R&L so soon imo. But I like both bands so ultimately I'm not really that arsed tbh.

Oh I meant Foals for R&L is more likely. Yeah Glastonbury and Download are the only big ones left for Biffy really and I'd be surprised if they didn't play one of them.

I don't think Glastonbury would give Foals a headline spot if i'm honest, not when they have much bigger and much safer acts to turn to...

put it this way, if Flo isn't headlining this year.. I can't see Foals headlining next year if they are both (respectively) in the same position.

Foals will headline Reading I reckon, fits the criteria for a lot of rumours and Melvin stating that he's talked with a band about headlining 2016 already... just fits imo.

I reckon next year Foals will headline Reading on exclusive, and do a whole host of European Festivals.

Biffy will have a big scottish show, maybe Hyde Park and Glasto i'd imagine. All speculation though..

Yeah, I don't see Foals headlining Glasto next year and that Biffy will headline instead. Also didn't someone say that an act was asked if they wanted to headline R&L this year but because they weren't sure when the album was going to come out R&L didn't give it to them (or something along those lines) as if it was true then it probably was either Florence or Foals.

I thought that post was specifically about Foals.

What rumours? And how do Foals fit that Melvin thing more than anybody else?

Trying to find that article in which Melvin said they've already spoken to a band about headlining in 2016

It was definitely on NME

That Foals teaser got me all excited :D

Unless Glastonbury did offer it to Florence but she didn't want to do it yet, cause she has a bigger picture plan in her head. (Considering Emily saying she was a headliner sized act, I think it seems that way.)

Plus Foals are more "indie rock" so kind of fit what people expect from festivals (I.e. Less moaning about the act being a woman or not "rock"). Plus it depends on the acts available in anyone year of course.

Can't see Florence's gender coming into the issue at all.. if people are moaning about florence because she's female thats the publics fault not the festival's.

Florence and the machine is about as indie rock as you can get in my opinion...

I agree with your first point better, that there's a chance Florence was offered but didn't want to headline.

I can vouch. It was on a live interview on the main announcement for 2014's announcement he said he had been in email correspondence with a rising band for the headline slot "not for next year's but for the year after, which shows how early we're preparing the headliners" or something.

Can also vouch for seeing the post on the Glasto section saying Foals were offered it for this year but knocked it back as they felt they wouldn't be ready. I don't know if it said they'd delayed it for next year or not but you'd think, wouldn't you?

I wish Foals were doing Glasto next year, or if they could even do both, but obviously that ain't gonna happen.

I meant it more in that Foals, fit the stereotype of a headliner better rather than Florence than Festival actively going by gender.

Same as genre, to a lot of people and partly I think its down to gender, shes seen as more of a pop act than indie/rock. (Like Florence and Foals would be both be near the invisible fence of Pop to Indie/rock but opposite sides :P)

Mainly I just want Foals to headline Glastonbury I guess! I'd even let Floorfiller be right about Biffy never doing it for it to happen :P

I don't think Glasto will give Foals a headline spot before Reading imo

I wonder if, since Florence has not headlined a UK festival yet - that we won't get both Foals or Florence next year as that would be two bump up headliners in one year.

Out of Florence or Foals I can see Foals are a bigger likelyhood for next year.

If that's the case I can imagine Foals and Muse being two of the headliners for next year

third headliner being a band who's releasing new material in 2016, can't see all three headliners being acts who released new material in 2015

Yeah you mentioned rumours in addition to the Melvin thing. Assumed there must have been something else.

I know Melvin said that; I was asking why Foals fit that more than anyone else. Didn't realise he said it was an upcoming band, as per Dental's post, so yeah, that clears it up a bit.

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
