If i cant sleep i usually stick my headphones in and listen to a podcast or audiobook. I find directly listening to people talk helps take your mind off not being able to sleep and you naturally drift off.

Or there is always valium of course!

Silicon earplugs (the ones which mold into your ears), eye mask, a proper pillow and a tent which unzips to give you plenty of ventilation are all good. If you really can't sleep, sometimes I find getting up, going for a walk and something to eat makes me tired enough to want to go back to sleep for an hour.

Regarding sleeping pills, I've taken them before on prescription (say you're going on a long haul flight with work and you will need to be fresh in the morning) but I don't recommend them. While you do sleep, and they are pretty good at getting you into a good sleeping rhythm if you're going abroad say, they make you sleep for 7+ hours then leave you exhausted and wiped out for the whole of the next day, no matter how many coffees you drink.

As for staying awake, I don't think I've ever headed back to the tent earlier than 5am. I'm not a big drinker and I don't do drugs but I find taking plenty of sugary snacks around with you can give you the boost you need when you're flagging.

I find I can sleep through most things.

Last time though was different, and this time will be as well, even on weekends I religiously get up at 6:15am which is my normal wake up time, its annoying.

I am planning to tap the GF's mum this time for some of her insane strength sleeping pills. I want to be up and moving by 10am every day if I can for breakfast reasons but don't anticipate sleeping until at least 3/4am most nights :D

The last time I took Diazepam was actually in Vietnam as well. Found it weird to be able to buy them from a pharmacy so easily.

Didn't work mind, had them for the overnight sleeper buses and trains and still managed to be kept awake!!

I mixed mine with a few Saigon's for the buses & a bit of old Adam & Joe podcasts.

I used to work as cabin crew so have seen some crazy things on flights when people mix alcohol & sleeping pills so I just had a couple of cans.

I will second this. Works a treat for me, as well as stopping come downs too

I'm taking it for come downs for the first time this yeah, fingers crossed because the day after has been getting gradually worse as i get older and has made me consider an alcohol only festival soon!

    • Hello. I was hoping this fine community could help me with an inquiry.   I had the most magical afternoon in 2025 dancing to my favourite artist, Rizzle Kicks, with two vibrant ladies and a dashing man. The girls had lathered up with what looked like extra suncream while he was wearing a distinctive piece of hatwear.   We were thick as thieves and had a jack ball, before retiring to a nearby refreshment stand to munch some sushi.   Sadly, I'd had a shandy and did not get any of their names or numbers. Foolish! Chalk it up to that classic Glasto spirit, a bauble of which lives within me very tightly all year long.   But fortunate strikes when you least it expect it... while browsing the ol' twitter, I came across a photo of what certainly looked like it might have been them. I shall attach below. My memory is a little hazy so I can't be sure.   Does anyone know who they are? And if so, how I can in touch with them?
    • Happy to report there are still some really good people in the world. I went to 'in conversation' talks with Maxine Peake and Chris Packham today. Two fine examples of humanity.
    • More performance than gig, but The Eccentronic Research Council with Maxine Peake was quite the experience. Readings of peoples dream narratives over electronic beats and bleeps, and a bit of Shelley to finish.
    • Zach Bryan at Anfield last night was unreal. One of my favourite gigs that.   There’s a Glasto headliner there one day.
