innervisions? yaaaaawn

they're everywhere and it's always the same

they are also probably very, very expensive to book - too much for glasto considering they will almost definitely get a higher £ offer somewhere else in europe that weekend.

Unless you have been booking them since well before they were anywhere near as famous as they are now, they won't "cut you a deal" to play.

the thing with the classic german sounds like kompakt and innervisions is their sound is popular the world over, as well as europe and the UK so everybody wants them - and they wouldn't necessarily see glasto as somewhere they really, really want to play. At the end of the day glastonbury does not offer a world class sound system for DJs to play on for example. Nor a guarantee they will be confronted with their "type" of crowd.

Harry3, I gotta take you to task on this. D&B comes out of several UK cities and regions, notably Birmingham/The Midlands, Bristol and Manchester.

Big UK grime fan like you and would also love see some grime artists and collectives at Glastonbury...

I did say it was a UK sound! You cant deny the biggest lineups are found in London though. Especially Critical @ Fabric

well there was absolutely 0 grime last year, and with the amount of house spread across the festival I think we're entitled to a bit/lot of ravey bass music in one area!

I will check out that 2manyDJs mix though.. GTA5 came out for PC last week and Iv been listening to the Soulwax radio station on repeat

I was talking both about the current scene and the history. Londoner perhaps? ;-) Still, good to debate with a fellow fan.

I've never been to Critical @ Fabric - do you recommend?

I might be wrong here, but Drum and Bass seems to be a very london thing.

When I go to london, my mate is always going on about decent nights there. I just don't get it.

My only real gripe about Glasto is there is too much drum and Bass in the SE corner. I need to get to Bez's acid house this year!

Bristol has a big scene, but then most forms of music are strong in bristol. Your right though, there's an awful lot of it late on at the festival. Could do with more variation IMO. Needs More grime, which is possible as it's more mainstream than it's ever been.

not surprised im not the only one a bit puzzled by the high number of drum n bass / bass / grime djs & areas in the SE corner.

on a side note, the 2manydjs despacio mix that was on radio 1 at the weekend is the best thing I've heard in ages.

definitely check it out

Er, there isn't any grime in the South East Corner (to date) and I think the sole representation of it was in some of the stuff Toddla T was playing but I don't recall any grime artists on the bill last year...

Grime is a big UK musical scene full of innovators and people working their arses off often with little commercial backing and deserves to be represented.

Hey Fuzzy Dunlop - Manchester? Yes? Do you know DRS? And some good stuff on at Antwerp Mansion and Soup Kitchen. If you're interested.

Thanks Northern Soul, will check out the 2ManyDJS mix :dancer:

Haha no not a Londoner, Im firmly in the middle of the M4, equidistant to London & Bristol!

Probably my age but through reading stuff Ive always associated London, its pirate radio stations, big Jamaican culture and most prominent DJs with bringing about the Jungle sound.

If youre a fan of the deeper, darker side of D&B then yes definitely. Never attracts the usual jumpup wronguns either.

It might be the circles I go in, but as a genre D+B doesn't register at all.

Techno, trance, psy trance and house music are the electronic music choices. Im hoping to see more of this in the SE corner

More psytrance is fine by me :D

I just went and had a look at the 2014 line up because I couldn't believe that there wasn't any grime there, and I was shocked to discover that there really wasn't.

Would be surprised if Novelist and Stomrzy don't pop up somewhere, maybe some of the instrumental grime producers like Dark0 and MssingNo too, I will definitely be looking to find some grime this year.

I saw Blawan in The London Underground on a Thursday night a few years ago I think. He was quality!

Saw Blawan at Bestival at about 5pm on the Sunday in 2012, absolutely skull fracturing stuff - would love to see him playing somewhere, not managed to get into the Karenn stuff as much, just a DJ set somewhere would do me.

I love Karenn, productions are unreal, really hope to catch them live one day

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
