Sadly, it sounds like a strong possibility to me - like Slipknot, Iron Maiden have a tendency of reappearing on a regular basis at festivals like Download. BMTH for Friday, I'd say, and Iron Maiden for Saturday. Shame, cos I'd set my heart on SOAD and Sabbath, although Sabbath could get booked for Sunday, I suppose - let's hope so - that'd guarantee us buying a Sunday day ticket ......

That's why I'm going for. SOAD, Iron Maiden and Sabbath. SOAD aren't young but they'll certainly appeal to that crowd.

BMTH, Metallica and GNR the year after.

I'd imagine so, heading into Europe at exactly the time Download is on, they'd be a good booking even if it was only 3 years ago last time.

It's also exactly the same period which covers DEAG's festivals in May, Sonisphere festivals in June/July and Wacken at the Start of August.

Food for thought.

You won't get Sabbath and Maiden on the same lineup together.

Maiden have only played Download once since Stuart Galbraith left, they have played Sonisphere twice since and were in talks to headline last year.

Don't half get carried away with a rumour do you, guys? :P If they're being chalked up because that Ed Force One thing then we knew they'd have been touring next summer as they're about to release a new album.

At least it's worthwhile talk rather than a lot of bullocks aired on here these days!

I can't remember the fully story but you have a point. I think Sabbath would definitely be the choice over Maiden and it'll more time since they played. Soni does seem to go ahead when it's either Metallica or Maiden as their flagship header.

Sharon was pissed off at Ozzfest one year, when Maiden were getting the biggest and best reaction from the crowd, so Sharon grabbed a microphone backstage and started chanting Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy and interrupting Maiden's songs, I think Bruce then started slagging her off and her and Kelly grabbed shit loads of eggs and started pelting them at Bruce.

Sharon then changed the bookings of the rest of the tour to have Ozzy headline, kept cutting Maidens sets short and so on.

Maiden then cancelled the rest of their Ozzfest shows and refused to work with her again.  They've never played the same event in the same year with Ozzy or Sabbath since (a far as I know).

Sharon said that Bruce was egotistical, and that she would happily work with the rest of Iron Maiden and not him, he said she was pissed off because she couldn't take it that Maiden were bigger than Ozzy, I think he said that he felt sorry for Ozzy, Ozzy then got involved and said a load of nonsense etc

I think maiden and Sabbath just fly in and out on their respective days though and don't hang around for the weekend. I doubt they'd even see each other at the site. I'd never say never on that one.

But the thing is having to share a bill with them. Acts refuse to share a bill with other acts now and then for whatever reason and if you read what Metalicbear put then you could imagine Sharon being that spiteful still.

Yeah I knew about the history. I guess it just depends on how good the promoter is at their job in getting the acts to make allowances. Especially ones that really don't affect any of the parties involved other than appearing on a poster together in an equal billing on seperate days.

I was meaning the forums as a whole. You can without doubt tell there is a younger generation on here a lot of the time.

Aah ok. The download boards are a haven from all the nonsense in the reading thread though. Most things on here concern the actual festival and information about line ups etc. Not that i think there was anything wrong with your post

    • Three Scottish bands with a bunch of hits behind them, must be more to be added to this lineup as it's over 3 days, targeting the local crowd rather than people travelling methinks.

    • 2 jobs ago, i used to cycle to work - 20 miles every day, rain or shine... i did that for 5 or 6 years.   during that time, all the shows i went to i bought shirts in size M as they fit perfect all was good.   fast forward to now, my bike sits forlorn in the garage... and every single one of those t-shirts serves only as an embarrassing reminder...
