They could all appear across the bill (I don't know if Metallica are out of contention yet) but I don't think they'd appear in a block like Sonisphere. That was pretty much just a gimmick to merit rebooking Metallica, so I don't think Download would do it and it'd be odd for Sonisphere to do it. At least two of 'the big four' have played every Sonisphere in the UK so if that were to come back (in any year) then you'd see a couple of them.

BMTH's album is on course to be number 1 tonight, not that that was ever in doubt, the amount of pre-orders alone secured that for them. They're also currently number 1 in 8 countries, and four hours ago they were number 3 in the USA too.

You may want to question/change this now? ;P. No.2 entry behind Stereophonics.

I will credit them for getting that, albeit through selling out quite a lot. I do feel however that they'll need a new album out before their Download headline spot as evwn though I have said 2017 myself, I wonder if 21 months after this album seems too long like a couplw on here have said?

IMO its looking almost certain that BMTH is headlining the friday at download.

feel like A7X making nightmare and then hail to the king and then headlining download is almost de ja vu for me with BMTH.

and tbh , if we don't start gettig new blood headliners what is going to happen when all the old bands die out

They would. Andy has said that he's courted them in the past and I believe they're regulars on the poll thingy. I don't think they will next year anyway as I can already guess (based on blindly following what people have said) who the headliners might be but just another name to the mix init.

I'm sure they'll agree to reunite eventually whether it's next year or five years. I don't think it'll happen that soon though as Slash is still touring until the end of the year and, as the Soundwave promoter implied, they'll still be working with lawyers and agencies for the most lucrative deals possible before even thinking about starting to rehearse again.

yeah if the GnR reunion happens i'm sure Download will throw everything they've got their way - would be a huge coupe, even if, inevitably, the performance(s) end up being a bit shit

Yes, it'd be more of a you were there moment than the actual show being as good as it should be.

They would cost a bomb, Sonisphere were in advanced talks with the current GnR in 2012, but the cost of them would have crippled Sonisphere, it was cheaper to book Kiss on a European exclusive than it was to book them.

It was that cheap to book them, it helped piss the fest up.

More Zegut stuff - he reckons Lindemann will be doing "Hellfest? Download? Both?" next year. Dunno if that means Download UK or FR but I assume it's UK because he said the same about Iron Maiden a week or so ago and they won't be doing both Download FR and Hellfest, will they?

Where would Lindemann play?

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
