Who does everyone realistically want to be announced on Thursday?

Good Charlotte, Pvris, Beartooth, Twin Atlantic, Mallory Knox, Hacktivist, Black Peak, Eliza And The Bear. Just a few of the names i'd like to see. Hopefully should see a few of them.

Big Weekend just added Biffy, CHVURCHES, Fetty Wap, Sigma, Skepta, Jack Garratt and Twenty One Pilots, all big draws for this year at Reading, while also having Catfish, TLSP, Tame Impala, Chase and Status and Bring Me. Thursday better bring some big names along otherwise Big Weekend is looking a million times better, for me personally anyway.

Big Weekend is a completely different festival as it's free and always brings in huge 'Top40' artists and it's a free festival (with a booking fee of about £8). Look at the past few line ups for it to see examples of how much the festival surpasses most 'regular' festivals.

I understand that and all, but I think I'm just very disappointed with the undercard at R&L this year and that announcement has just really put that into perspective. I'm desperately hoping for Weezer/Sum 41/Catfish, unlikely as they are, just to give me something to be excited about apart from the Chili Peppers and Biffy this year as nothing else is really doing it. Saying that, I'll end up going anyway cos I love the weekend with mates and all that:P

Yeah I've felt that way for a quite a few years I've been now. All UK festivals seem to be really struggling with the size and prices of the European festivals now but Reading will always be of interest to me just because of the group of people I go with each year. Biffy, Foals, RHCP, TDCC, Vaccines are all huge draws for me but I agree something else is needed. Reading Saturday is really poor in terms of the under card for my taste but I've worked around that before just but hanging around the pit stage / BBC Introducing and NME to discover acts that I wouldn't listen to normally. I'm sure there'll be some more hints or maybe even the usual leak by Wednesday night... If not, Thursday isn't too far away :)

They're not comparable festivals

Well last night esculated quickly.

R1BW probably has the biggest pull acts wise/headliners (we wouldn't all love the amount of "pop" music it has) of all the fests every year, not sure how the BBC can do it for free. The acts most know that R1 support over here is well worth having.

They've tried by adding the Dance Stage & 1Xtra. I don't have a clue what the solution is, maybe just keep it as it is & just cater the usual school leavers as their first big fest. Paid by mom & dad.

    • Muse new album out soon , European tour announcement for Nov and Dec, no Spanish date and north American tour starts in July and in North America for all of July and August. So primavera and Glastonbury
    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
