The Weeknd isn't even "hiphop/rap" so even if you think that two rappers subbing in a row makes it a thing they want to do every year, he wouldn't be considered and also wouldn't suit R+L at all.

I think Chance the Rapper might headline NME or something next year but I don't see any bigger hip hop artists playing.

Fuck I meant for this to be an edit. I'll log out now.

I wouldn't go that far... There's been a lot of variation in the lineup for the past 3-4 years. I'd say there's very few acts who are off the cards now imo. I think Reading has the balls to book more varied acts now.

Good shout on Chance, he's got a new album/mixtape/whatever coming out some time this year, and supposedly working with the likes of Frank Ocean and Kendrick so could blow up a bit.

And even if The Weeknd did suit R&L, he's never gonna bloody sub.

I think that Bloc Party into Kanye would be brilliant. I fully expect Disclosure to sub also. Imagine Dragons is a weird one. I (begrudgingly) listened to their new album earlier and it's absolute guff. I think they would sub IF they played, but expect V to go for them. I've put The 1975 third down even though I genuinely expect them to sub.

Bloc Party and Deftones subbing? Especially not Deftones, Download is their main base and they'd be lucky to get that there now.

You're probably right with Disclosure. Both them a Imagine Dragons could easily be subs. Personally think Foals could easily sub next year too.

Two full predictions in one night, you'll get a reputation ;p.

Bloc Party against Foo's won't happen and Friday and Saturday are the worst days Reading would probably ever see.

That's the only 'full' prediction I've done. And I can't see Foos and Bloc Party having too much crossover. Foos will get a mammoth crowd no matter who is against them.

I'm not claiming that having a hip hop act to sub is a 'thing' or a 'rule' or whatever but anyway.

I can see Disclosure filling in that slot instead of a big hip hop name.

If there is going to be a big hip hope name I'd punt at Frank Ocean.

Also shouts at Odd Future or A$AP Rocky. Possibly The Weeknd or Childish Gambino if they really blow up between now and 2016.

Probably deserves to - Mr Wonderful is sounding really good - but I think Chance is a bigger name right now and will only get bigger by the year's end.

Mr Wonderful is really great, not sure if it's the type of album that's going to get him much mainstream success though. I think Chance is more capable definitely.

Far more likely to get Major Lazor opposite Foo's imo. Bloc Party up against Kanye for that prediction would make sense.

I'd say the only hip-hop artist right now who fits the "sub" criteria, following on from Macklemore and Kendrick, is A$AP Rocky...

I'd love next years headliner's to be Foos, Slipknot and Jay Z, but that's probably far too optimistic and needs a newer headliner/soemthing to fit with a younger demographic.

How about FATM headlining, with Foals subbing? So it'd be a weak headliner/strong sub combo?

Edit: And for anyone questioning Slipknot, I think with the success of the new album and he amount of Radio 1 time they're getting, now is a better than ever for them to headline.

I don't think A$AP Rocky is anything like sub level.

I know there's been a lot said about the booking of Slipknot in recent years - a lot of it by me - but after that arena tour I think it'd be one of the most sensible headline bookings they could make and as long as they can beat Soni to it then should be pretty easy too.

Thing about calling FATM or Foals 'weak headliners' is it just takes TITP having them headline for them to no longer be considered weak, like Libertines this year.

He's subbing Wireless (I know it's slightly different) and with a new album on the way, if that does well then I could see it.

    • I don't know if they were playing the game of only putting certain seats on sale, but the presale for the Hydro was a battle - usual game of selecting blue seats only for them to have gone by the time you clicked through to checkout.  No standing available at all.  I managed to get two seats eventually, way over to the side.
    • Thom Yorke will be releasing new music this year. Would be amazing to have him (his 2019 Tomorrow's Boxes tour was stellar). Ed O Brien can also play a small set. Could be lovely.   Can see Fontaines DC headlining next year (if Mad Cool doesn't get them). Is Raye edgy enough for this? She's amazing live but maybe not a 'Primavera name'?   Hoping for a return of Run The Jewels (rumored to be working on something new?) Fred Again is a good shout as wel.
    • Other than the very challenging hours of the storm (and PS's terrible mismanagement), I thought weekend was fantastic. Main highlights on Thursday - Blood Orange and Ahadadream>>Bambi>>BenUFO run at Plentitude right after the storm which were all a blast, Friday -  Avalanches DJ set (only played for an hour but could've continued for another two as far as we were concerned), The Cure (amazing show and his expression right at the end of the show which was caught on screen was very special) and on Saturday - Baxter Dury (seen him twice before but he has become a real performer, band was tight too). We accidentelly bumped into him in the VIP area later and he was so humble and modest and generous to us that I completely fell for him) and Smerz (especially the last 3 songs). Also loved BCNR at Parallel62 on Sunday. Crushed to have missed Overmono. Can't wait for next year.
    • well, the attack was in a republican area...
    • huge interpol fan here and saw them a lot but cannot recall they did Primavera Barca the last 3 years?
