Happened to be in Manchester last night and realised they were playing. Got tickets for 15 each!

It was amazing. The venue - Albert hall - was quite small and had stain glass windows all around it. It was really sunny but got darker as the gig went on. Never seen that before, it was just f-ing perfect.

Mate has a spare for the roundhouse so driving back to London and will be Going Blank Again tonight!

Caught an interview on The Quietus a few days ago where Ride said they were a festival exclusive but were thinking about Glasto next year. They referred to the fake line-up that had been doing the rounds on here I think - http://thequietus.com/articles/17903-ride-interview-field-day

Gutted if they definitely aren't there this time round, but hopefully will catch them in 2016, the reunion shows have looked immense.

I just walked into Field Day chatting to Andy Bell's manager (not Ride's manager, mind) so I asked why they're not doing Glastonbury - was it money or not being asked, etc. His response was "Given Andy's free all weekend, they're not necessarily not playing." Can I stress, he didn't say they would be there but he clearly suggested they could be. Will have more credibility if Ride announce an October tour tomorrow...

I'll be watching this closely. For the they were the biggest omission disappointment this year.

I try to head there now rather than to Manchester or Brum. Love that it hasn't sold out to O2 also a much more intimate venue than other similar venues on academy tours.

Plus they sell a nice selection of cans - pricey mind & plenty of nice bars nearby even a cheap hotel Roomzz next door.

    • 2 really good albums IMO. Fun, really good musicians, energetic, can dance to it.    I'd take that over the couple of dozen twee ernest singer songwriter 2 chord dross acts on the bill most years.
    • They will have strictly 14 days to comply, at the end of which they will strictly have another 14 days to comply.
    • Bonobo has a new album out in September.  Touring the US the end of this year, so hopefully UK dates and festivals in 2027.  Would make a superb Park headliner.
    • I was following up to pink_triangle's post about what Reform are saying they will do to find money for defence spending.   But with Labour, they may well water down or delay some of the net zero commitments, they may find ways to cut welfare spending with Pat McFadden's welfare review thing, but I don't think it's going to be near enough. They really tied themselves down with the tax commitments in their manifesto, just reversing Hunt's NI cuts would have gone a long way. Under Burnham I think they may try and reform some of the tax system, land taxes and levies etc. Certainly needs reforming. But that might all be after a general election if Labour were to win.  I reckon they will try and do something with fiscal rules to borrow more, and try and persuade markets to go along with them.  (and he's already rowed back on that waspi thing...I think his team and others in Labour had a word).
