4 out of 4: Pharrell was announced as headliner!

I thought there was some confusion with this 'cause he's not headlining other festivals he's been announced at?

I dont know what to think about that, although when @Dietediet has mentioned this option before I thought it is very logical (Prodigy on SAT and Editors on FRI) . If its gonna be Noel / Lenny / The Prodigy its too weak, but we do need the time to see Damien Rice & TWOD..

Honestly....with day by day schedule: why Noel/Lenny/Prodigy timetable seems lame ? I know it's not the 2009 edition (Placebo-Oasis-Prodigy) but stilll - if you compare it with friday schedule so far - it still brings some real rock noise. I am soooo happy with this announcement ONLY friday seems shite ;/

I didnt say lame, I said weak. I see the Prodigy as a dance act, not headliner act. So as I see it, Lenny headlining and Noel as a sub who has only one album and some Oasis songs is weak. Now I know a second album is on its way and those Oasis songs are probably gonna be great, but you dont see Robert Plant headlining RW just because he sings some Led Zeppelin along with songs from his new project. But as I said, Damien and TWOD needs my attention too, Im fine.

Oh, and I forgot, Friday looks bad indeed but we're still missing 1-2 big acts so lets wait and be comforted by DCFC meanwhile..

Personally I believe that the Prodigy are headlining Saturday as a dance act.

If I am not wrong at Rock werchter there is always 2 big names headlining the night and then a dance act that closes the night in the mainstage.

In 2012 there was Justice that closes the night on Thursday, Deadmaus on Friday and Chase and Status on Saturday.

The dance acts for this year are Pharrell Williams, Chemical Brothers and Prodigy. Still missing big names before them.... Especially on Saturday, we can get a bigger name then Noel for sure... I am just hoping that its Mumford & Sons or Coldplay!

Mark Knopfler plays every day of June in Europe, but there's a hole at the end of June ! So he could be an unexpected headliner ! Him or the Boss or Mumford & Sons or Coldplay, it would be a good time in each case.

I don't think many RW visitors are waiting for Knopfler.

We shouldn't get our hopes up too much. Probably a sub like Ed Sheeran or dEUS in between Noel and Lenny Kravitz, and Black Keys or Editors coheadlining with Pharrell.

How English speaking and friendly is the festival in general

I went alone at the festival last year, without speaking dutch (even if I learned few words). This is the best festival I've ever made by far. I can only compare to festivals in France and England. Maybe the World Cup had an impact on the atmosphere. People are fantastic at Werchter. If you speak English you don't have to worry, people will talk to you in English, even if you have a poor vocabulary like me. You will have a bloody drink every night and day with new friends. The Belgians and the Netherlanders are great party people, and they are really kind and funny ! So you will survive there and have a great time The main strength of Rock Werchter is not is lineup (although fantastic) but people there ! You will also find Germans, English, French, Spanish, and even Brazilians !

Very English speaking and friendly.

On the first night there in 2013, our camping neighbours (~19 year old guys) came over and offered me and my brother some crisps (speaking in Dutch), we said thanks in English and they reply "Oh you're English!" and we ended up chatting to them all night, in perfect English. Still friends with them now. Everyone else we spoke to there was equally friendly. Very nice atmosphere.

Yes last year ! I'm a Pearl Jam fan and the band didn't play any show in France last year ! So I took my bag and went to the festival for the first time ! I couldn't imagine a so intense atmosphere, a so friendly audience and a so perfect festival.

Just found this site,duh. Great may I add.

Been doing festivals since 1993,yes I'm an old git... Anyhoos was meant to be doing glastonbury this year but no joy, this is when hindsight works in your favour as I came across this gig. I love European festivals, normally go to optimus, superbock, rock am and rock en seine, how I've missed this I don't know... But think I can save some cash by doing this one, then possibly rock en seine (as no one wants to do the carling festival).

But as I digress,,, from reading the posts a few new bands have came to my attention DCFAC one in particular, hope they are on, also love future islands a breath of fresh air as far as performance goes, and hope they are announced too.

Guys keep up the good work in educating this old fart...

And see yous there, Can't wait.
