Rock Werchter 2015

1 beer (about 330ml I think) is 1 token. I was tee total at the time but Com told me it was pretty nice the beer they do in the festival.

It was definitely decent beer for a festival I thought. But because it's such a small cup and quite expensive, I'd recommend getting beer/wine/whatever takes your fancy from Leuven, that small shop we found was pretty good and quite cheap!

Hope to see a good few of those bolded names at RW. You don't think Placebo would return again this year? I would love to see them again.

Also where would Florence and Noel Gallagher play on the RW line up, I imagine they'd not be as high as they are at UK festivals?

Placebo's not impossible, but it's a similar case as Black Keys: no new material and their 2014 show wasn't exactly the best. Possibly plan b if they lack subs again?

Florence is sub status in Belgium by now. Noel is somewhat harder to tell, I'd put him as Barn headliner.

Would love to see Gaslight Anthem and Band of Skulls there, both great live bands. Not sure where Noel Gallagher would fit in but would be a great addition for me personally.

System of A Down announced a Belgium date on their Europeon tour in April, would that rule them out of Werchter?

I hope not and don't think so. Rodrigo y Gabriela played a show in Belgium in May and played Rock Werchter last year.

The National did a show in June and played RW too the year before. I think they would still suit in the line up. I hope so at least.

That's good to hear, really hoping to see SOAD there. I imagine if they're book they'll be in one of the later announcement as they'll want to sell out their own show first.

"Wake up the Souls" is the name of next year tour of SOAD. Band wants to honor the memory of those who died during the genocide that took place in 1915-1917 and where about million Armenians been killed. They gonna play 6 gigs all over the Europe. And the last one, seventh will be take in place in Yerevan, and be completely free. All those concerts will be in april, so they might stay here a little bit longer and play festivals. Who knows? Not me...

Ouch.

This'd better be a construction like KoL - Stromae.

Was Stromae announced as a headliner?

"After the announcements earlier that Muse and Foo Fighters are playing Rock Werchter 2015, this brings the headliner count to three."

Or do you think someone might play after Pharrell? I'd have thought he'd be the 'dancey' closer.

In the RW documentary, the organisor says they considered Stromae a headliner, but named him a dance act because KoL refused to be the lower one in a coheadlining construction with him.

So I wouldn't be surprised if they come up with a headline worthy name for Friday and let Pharrell be semi-headliner/semi-closing dancey act.

Ah I see. Stromae blew KOL out of the park to be fair.

I'm happy with Pharrell anyway, but if there was another headliner on before him that'd be even better!

They probably change the documentary as they want, I remember RW confirm Stromae as Barn headliner when they announced him.

They also count headliners now, claiming that there are 3 already and Thats really bad.

Yeah the whole barn thing was very strange. Perhaps KOL originally refused to play below anyone and they later negotiated Stromae playing above them as a Dance Act?

    • People seem to have got obsessed about 'secret sets' at all festivals this year even when there aren't any spaces other than, in EOTR's case, the usual late Folly sets that 90%+ of the time are from artists who are already playing.
    • To be fair @Superscally barely mentions the running thing. Very quiet about it 😘
    • I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either
    • Selfish, but I've done the 2 days I'm there.. i'll try to do the rest through the day but might get beaten to it as it's editable....    https://clashfinder.com/s/ape2026/
    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
