Where is it? The name rings a bell...

I googled. It's a scream bar in town. Kind like a wetherspoons bit towards more studenty and night life. The one in Plymouth and soton are decent.

My WBC Team drinks in there on the Wednesday - now I don't have all the details but if you can show a student union card you get a discount - have no clue what the discount is as I am not a Student but that was the main reason why we started drinking there in the first place many years ago.
It is a fair old walk {21-23 St. Marys Butts RG1 2LN} but there is many taxis that hang about close to save the walk back.
it has a large but crowded smoking area out the back but I prefer the upstairs area.
its always busy { in August } so its a place to get there early.

You have to have one of their student discount cards though.

as I did mention I am not a Student all I know is they get a discount - where they get the card from I don't have a clue as being 60 my student days are over.None of them live in Reading - all I know is they had a card and that was the reason why they wanted to go there and that was long before they were bought over by their current owner.
so whatever the card is - they have been using it a long time.

Oh yeah I appreciated you wouldn't know the details :P

Just thought it would be worth pointing out to anyone who went down with their Uni of Bristol ID card thinking they'd get discount :P

I'll probably just take a couple boxes of Strongbow in with me, then go and buy some more on the Saturday morning. It's what I did last year and it worked pretty well.

As for walking into Reading, I liked going for a walk in the mornings, woke me up and cleared out the cobwebs a bit. Also good for using a proper toilet at the train station!

Given that the White Harte, one of the places most Bristol Uni students go to in their first year for cheap drinks, is a Scream bar, it wouldn't be a mistake I'd expect to be made :P

What's it like at Leeds for taking drink from the campsite to the arena?

Do you get searched or what?

Yeah you're not allowed to take anything in, and you will get searched. I'm not sure how easy it is to sneak anything in as I've never tried it, but my friend snook a hipflask in last year and started drinking it as soon as he got through the gate. The security guy turned round and made him empty it onto the floor.

Must have been gutted. Jobs worth.

Sounds the same as T in the Park then. I tend to stick a couple of cans down my trousers, behind the belt where they can't really feel.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
