Now just hold it there, Matthew!

I never said I knew my way around, you cheeky monkey! I implied that I have a reasonable idea of the relative position of the various major areas on site - i.e. I have a feel for where Silver Hayes is, relative to the Pyramid, The Other etc. Ooooh, you embellish stories like Mrs Ben, you scamp!

I know I'll be as stone cold lost as every other freshman there, but I still have a very clear mental map in my head that will hopefully help me to navigate around a bit better than having no knowledge at all!

Just. Can't Wait.

Ben

Scamp................lol

I had a mental map in my head too....................................... epicly failed me so I resorted to a good old paper one in the pocket

Edit - Hello mother

You must be my mother as you called me Matthew and I claim my £5

It (kind of) helps to have an idea before you go but really forget what you think you know as it will all seem new when you get there anyway :D

I think it would be rather rude not to, Mr G.

Nailed on.

After setting up and meeting some people in camp, I hope to go on a damn good massive mooch, including getting to The Park, which I see as one of my natural homes at GF, and thence up said hill for a (likely slightly teary) bloody good look!

Ben

Weirdly, I didn't even go to The Park my first year. I wasn't on efests, so didn't hear about any 'must-dos'. My 'fucking hell!' moment was arriving at the Pyramid field for the football on Wednesday afternoon. There must've been 80-90,000 people. Absolutely mind blowing! Visited the Park area the next year and did the walk to the top, but didn't see a band there until my third time. It's a great area, but I need 2 or 3 bands I want to see, or one really special act, to make it worth the walk, especially later in the weekend!

One other thing, Ben.

When you get there, go to one of the info points and pick up a copy of the map that they give out for free. Much more detailed than the one on the website (which will be the same as in the programme). It's basically the same one the crew use, so it has all the smaller details on that would make the basic map too cluttered.

This is a absolute must for everyone, best map you can get. I usually get at least 3.

Evening all!! Lovely night out there.

1).. The webcam thingy isn't working for me and I'm having a major 2 year old strop.

2) I'm working Sunday so will not see Pilton and Dee waving and doing happy dances... Which I wouldn't see anyway (see 1).

3) I'm an amazing sweary auntie and I'm not from Ireland.

4) I too love giant cookies Slodge

Didn't know about the map!! Must get some of them! I'm always looking for a particular pub but can never find it!

Carol I too am mega excited!! I can't sleep!

Which pub?

The maps are really handy, as they not only have detail, but they also fold up to fit in your lanyard (if you're uncool like me, and wear yours all weekend!). I have enough crap to carry around with me, so leave my programme in my tent and just grab one of those maps in case I get lost, which I still occasionally do, even after 4 visits :)

It was one in bourbon street. I found it eventually. Also back of beyond. My mates were saying it was in Shangri hell, it wasn't, it was in the common. Spent 3 hours looking for it in hellish m*d!! Was not happy that night haha. My mate was pissed and crying that I wouldn't leave the john Peel tent to comfort her etc etc etc!! First time I've been close to murder!

1. I bet you've got fuck all on Gumby jr. when the mood takes him (although he'll probably be on top form when he meets you lot, because I don't think I've ever seen him as happy as last time we took him to glasto).

2. Use the archive thingy.

3. I seem to be collecting sweary aunties today.

4. I want to know what *kind* of cookies they are!

5. Me too!

6. Me too!

7. Fuck the greys! I've still got dark brown hair, but my beard has odd white and ginger bits, but who gives a shit! :)

8. I miss my nans.

9. I had to make a shelf to lift our telly out of reach of little hands.

10. Wish someone would give me £10g!

11. So am I :)

10. No one GAVE me £10g, they paid it back.

8. I miss 2 of mine so much. The other is bonkers and self destructing. I miss her too.

7. I have more than the odd white bit!

2. What is the archive thingy? I think after seeing the thread, it has been disabled.

http://boozedandinfused.com/2012/05/06/blueberry-gin/

If anyone's interested in making Blueberry Gin, I made the same recipe last year and it was superb!

Cheers! I'll try it with blackcurrant too.

My grey is turning white according to youngest step daughter.

I am grandma/nana-less, and I miss them too.

Keithy, grab a map early, they go quick. The sweary areas for gin drinkers are clearly identified.

Do pigeons eat at night? I've planted lettuces and pumpkins on the lotty tonight, and wonder if they'll be there tomorrow. .. lol

Do a search on google images for 'glastonbury crew map'. The first one that comes up is a few years old, but gives an idea how much better they are. :)

I do!! Makes reading them so much easier to turn them in the direction of travel! x

I'm good at navigating, despite never knowing left from right!

My wife loves maps, one of the first things we pick up.

I am pretty sure pigeons do not eat at night but they do get up very early and eat freshly planted plants, also slugs and snails eat all night. When we had a allotment someone told us to plant 5 plants (1 for us, 1 for slugs, 1 for snails, 1 for pigeons and finally 1 for natural loss) it was very true unfortunately
