Ben, I have given you my upvotes for the day, you had a few negatives and in my opinion didn't deserve them.

Thank you everyone for the Anniversary wishes 28 years this year (blimey)

Sorry not been around much today, not had a good day due to new tablets also been running around getting things ready for our weekend away.

Will not be on much this weekend as staying in a forrest, I doubt there will be a mobile signal let alone mobile data. I will try and check in when possible.

Have fun everyone, enjoy the sunshine, do not get wound up about headliners and finally remember the Glastonbury Spirit. (Blimey sound like a preacher, sorry)

Hugs peace and good cider (or drink of your desire)

Thanks for looking out for me, slodge.

Forgive me if I didn't notice your upvotes, anymore than I didn't notice getting down voted! Not arrogance, I promise, just a lack of attention to those pesky little red/green boxes!

Feel free to tell me to shut up in any thread if I need telling. I'll always heed the advice of a NFR NFC'er.

Gonna head bedwards as another 6am start for me.

Night, my lovelies. Sleep tight.

Ben

No, first tome in Paris for her, having done London in 2010 and, like so many, sworn never again only to find herself lining up for another some years later!

I expect to cover a fair amount of ground on Sunday, but not 23 miles!!! Well done you - and hubby.

I'm hoping that she can do around 4h45m. She's in better shape this time, and I've insisted that she is very disciplined with sticking to the training plan - especially tapering off in this last 7-10 days. She'd be a classic for thinking that surely running more will help!!! She did 4h55m in London, and although now 46 and five years on, I really reckon she'll ace it. Only problem I've read about is that some parts can get very congested, so that might stop one running at the pace they want to for a bit.

Anyway, full report to follow after the weekend - or probably after the race if I can find some wi-fi!

4.45 is a good time to go for! It's a good route, apart from the climb up to the palais de Vincennes, and downhill back into Paris, it's relatively flat. You go into a very long dark tunnel, just before the notre dam which isn't pleasant, and a bit disturbing for the people who sleep there! The water stations, particularly the ones on the cobbles along the rue de rivali get extremely slippy, tell her to be careful there a few folk came a cropper there! Apart from that it's magical! You may know this already but if not my no1 tip is zinc oxide tape, all over parts of the feet that may blister. It's the best thing, we didn't have one between us. Please give her all my good wishes for a great day :) can't wait to hear how she gets on.

Ps don't take her to the sacre cour the night before and show her how far she's running, I was retching lol xx

I should never ever watch supervet before bed. It's so upsetting. He does marvellous work but on that one occasion where he can't fix the pooch... Breaks my heart!

Barney, our neighbours dog was put to sleep earlier today. It's so sad :)

Doh!! That should have been a

Holy Brilliant Inside Info, Batman!

Thanks so much, Babs. Now in fact, today I will mostly be nicking from work some rather fab silicon dressings that are amazeballs blister killers...well, there've gotta be a couple of perks of being an NHS employee, haven't there?!

Will heed all your experienced advice. How much of an incline/decline is it in and out of Bois de Vincennes? I have (with no ACTUAL knowledge, just headology!) assured my belovéd that the entire course is pan flat!!!

Can not sleep so thought I would pop in

Very sad to read about Barney, we lost our Barney in December and still getting over his loss.

Morning Slodge, they're part of the family and a huge loss when they go. I can still have wee tear for all of my past pets. Our neighbours are very upset :(

Damn those emoticons!

That is sad, babs. Don't know what I'd do if my little pooch was properly poorly...

What breed was Barney?

Ben

Morning Ben, he was a gorgeous chocolate lab. We've lost several cats and dogs over the years, thankfully always at ripe old ages. It never gets any easier :(

If I recall its a steady incline over about 2 miles at the most up to the palais but not an awful steep gradient. It's a lovely part of the run passing fields with cattle and other farm stock. The benefits are it's in the first half of the race and you're downhill and flat all the way to the finish after :) im all for a little steal from the nhs ben :). Post race massage is extremely beneficial too and a good walk the next morning fairly saves you from any stiffness. I'm excited for mrs B she'll love it xx

Thanks, you.

I'm excited too. Without being too self-congratulatory, I do make things incredibly easy for her!! Yes, she has to do the training and actually run the bugger, but I'll take care of everything else. Her kit will be laid out for her, I'll gently get her up in the morning. All hotel, travel, food etc are all sorted withour her having to worry!

I'll defo keep you guys updated as to how it all goes.
