Can we at least keep the actual Metallica thread seperate from all the bitching about Metallica threads.

It's nice to be able to actually just read about the music, set lists, watch the YouTube videos without 237 too posh to mosh posts.

OK, just throwing this out there and am very open to having my mind changed:

Who cares about the face checking at the gates? If it is a system implemented to prevent touting, then the touting has already happened and by the time they get to the gate there's nothing you can do about it. The checker would have no idea whether you are someone who has bought the ticket at face value or less (or even been given it for nothing) or paid thousands. Surely the important thing at their stage is everyone having a valid ticket and not letting too many people on site?

If any more get listed for way over the odds bid on them to get rid of the listing and then don't pay and then a few days later complain to ebay that having read Glastonbury's T and Cs you realise it is against the rules to resell. If everyone did this every time one got listed it would stop it in it's tracks.

The reason the photo is there in the first place is to discourage people taking the risk on buying tickets from non-official sources in the first place. If nobody cares what picture was on the ticket then there would be no point in putting them on there in the first place and you would be back to the situation where many people would buy tickets with no intention of attending the festival but purely to try and profiteer from selling the tickets on at inflated values to those who desperately want to attend.

Once you have a spare pass out or two , the rest is dead easy. Borrow a couple of crew wristbands of a couple of mates (yes, many crew are able to slip wristbands off) and borrow their half tickets.

Go out thro' a gate getting a pass out then give the two extra sets of entry stuff to the people who want to come in.

The festival has to draw a line in the sand at some point though. You can get a refund pretty close to the date of the festival, if they introduced a method for reagigning the tickets to other people there would be a cost to it.

I'm sure there would be a solution whereby it is posible (something like):

  • Ticket holder sends back ticket
  • Registered people on waiting list for returns
  • New ticket issued
  • £25 admin charge deducted from refund
  • £25 admin charge on top of face value for new ticket person

The ticket going to someone on a waiting list would take away the possible touting aspect but is there an appetite for the festival to introduce something like this? They would need to use valuable resourse or go through the motions of employing extra people without having any idea what the demand would be. There would still have to be a cut off time and what if person on waiting list has changed their mind?

it's probably all too much like hard work just for the relitively small number who find them selves unlucky enough to not be able to go.

I haven't read the whole thread, I hope someone has notified Glastonbury so that these two profiteers are removed from registration and never allowed to purchase again. One thing selling at face value another making money out of it, it's touting and it's about time it was made illegal to sell on music tickets just like it is for football matches.

I think there should be a way of late returns being made available but perhaps it would be too expensive to administrate?
