The reality is if he did it on the streets it would be ABH and he would be in serious trouble. There is also the threat of breaking the skin and transmitting diseases etc (not saying he has any).

I think any action by a player which would result in police action in a normal walk of life needs to be taken much more seriously than the bans football is giving out. A late challenge or jumping for a ball and catching someone with an elbow is one thing.... As soon as its deliberate assault I don't see why six months bans plus are not the order of the day.

I actually see no reason why the police shouldn't be involved. If I was playing a game on the park and someone bite me I would be reporting them. They would be facing a maximum sentence of five years.

I don't really agree but I do see your point, I am sure rugby players have been prosecuted for assaults on the field but could be wrong.

I am pretty split what should happen to Suarez, of course he has deep routed problems which needs sorting out. Didn't he get some sort of 'treatment' after the last biting incident?

Usually when thugs get frustrated and can't get there own way they usuly punch, headbutt or some other vicious act but biting?

On the other hand you can't have players on the field who are at risk biting people.

In a funny way it will help Liverpool who obviously have no integrity left. He will get a long International ban(can't see it being club level) and can't see Madrid or Barcelona buying him now due to bad publicity and he will get rests on international breaks.

It is a strange one as Suarez seemed to be getting his head together a bit, but this reaction just looks like it is in his make up. Can't see Fifa banning him for domestic games, will just be a long international ban. I wonder how the Liverpool owners will feel about this, they keep backing him and goes and does yet another stupid thing. Not sure how I feel, might be time to get rid of him but if he goes on to stay at Liverpool and has another great season all will be forgotten again.

I think it's such an unusual thing that it's hard to place it on a scale against other dangerous acts, although if players are willing to take the field to play against the likes of Lee Cattermole and Ryan Shawcross then I can't see them refusing to play against Suarez.

This is basically everything I hate about the modern game. A c**t who is a great footballer is still a c**t.

You can tell by Suarez face as he walked of that he knew he fucked up. I don't think Suarez getting a long ban is the answer, it's like He has a blackout when he does it. So it's probably a lot bigger problem for him than just football, will be interesting if it happens of the playing field.

It's a very grey area though. If someone deliberately aims to hurt and injure somebody with a dangerous tackle or flying elbow why should it be limited to being 'part of the game'?

I think its harder to prove as a tackle can be mistimed or an elbow can be left when jumping. Theres no way yo can bite someone by accident.
