Aye, gutted with the result here in Scotland. Happy enough that BNP are wiped out UK-Wide, and that UKIP were still pretty low down here in Scotland, being 4th rather than a poll topper, but disappointed they've managed to get their first seat. Should have went to the greens, or would have settled for a 3rd SNP or Labour MEP.

Still looking at some other european countries it could be a whole lot worse, particularly Frances outcome with Front National topping their polls.

The Tories are not right wing then? Because it's a massive 28% including them. There's no getting away from the fact that close to a third of Scottish votes went to the right.

As far as I can recall, for the first time in over 30 years of voting my vote has helped elect someone.

As opposed to the overall uk figure of 53 odd percent it is quite a big difference to be fair. The low turnout skews this somewhat too, if it had the turnout of a general election I imagine the right wing share of vote would be even lower, though I imagine that May be the case for a lot of the UK

Extremely depressing - but I can sort of see why its happened.

If UKIP do get in next year (probably via a Tory coalition), lots of people are gonna get a fucking great shock when they realise that Farage is no different to the other public school boys who 'don't really care about the people'. Labour particularly need to sort their act out, but I fear they will just pander to UKIP voters.

Yes, the votes in Scotland end up in different places - for nationalistic and historical reasons - but all the patterns of vote movement are the same if you care to stop and engage your brain rather than playing Project McFear.

I can see why you think that way. Its a false conjecture though. Not that anything I say will change your mind.

look at how the votes have moved from one party to another in England, and look at how they've done much the same in Scotland (by very similar amounts).

It's just about identical. It's merely the presence of an extra party that makes Scotland look different.

As I've pointed out to you many many times already, all the tories in Scotland didn't die in 1983. They're all still there, all thinking the same tory thoughts but voting differently to try and ensure the best result from their perspective.

UKIP, Sinn Fein, Front National in France, Danish Peoples Party, Austrias Freedom Party, Jobbik in Hungary etc. Mostly extreme anti Euro and/or anti immigration.
