About a week before the festival start acting strangely at school. Both in class and especially in the staff room. After about 4 days, really turn the lunacy dial up. Go to the doctors still in lunacy mode. Tell them big porky pies about how you feel your losing it because of work related pressure. The doctor will then sign you off for a week at least. Might even throw in some valium. You then chose whether to stay with it and get the 3 month'er out of them / it (the situation), or go back to work a week later - when you'll be less rabid.

Do you know anyone who is going to arrive earlier than you? I'd suggest finding someone who can put up your tent, then if you get there late on Friday you can just enjoy yourself and not worry about finding a spot for camping. If you can do that I think it would certainly be worthwhile for the money...

I hope you made the right choice (which is obviously to go to Glastonbury). One of our group does it every year. He teaches two hours away, gets to us last on Friday afternoon, has the best two days ever and then goes half an hour before the headliner finishes on Sunday. It's always his favourite weekend of the year even though he's only there for 54 hours.

In 2011, my friend (also a teacher) was struck down with a *mystery illness *on Wednesday, but was miraculously fine again by post-Glasto Monday... She did have to find a quiet place to call in sick every morning at Glasto, but said it was totally worth it....so it's totally do-able!

Thanks Monkismo...

I have been most years since I started teaching in 2000. It is a ball ache but it is worth it.

If you can get someone to put your tent up before hand that obviously helps - I always try and get someone to cover my last class on the friday so I 'beat the traffic' and I am usually on site by 4pm on the friday. I know you have already missed some bands but you do anyway at Glastonbury. I am always amazed at how many people are still arriving then (and also leaving!).

Sunday morning - pack everything up and get it back to the car. Then all you have to do is go to your car when you feel that you are done in the evening.

Do it....

Hi,

I've previously been to Glastonbury a few times but never since I have started to teach. Now I can't decide whether to pay the full balance as I can only get down there on the Friday night and will have to come back Sunday night ready for work Monday morning.

Are there many that have done this before? Is it still worth the £230 + ticket price? Personally when I went before I loved the Weds/Thurs night and with me not being majorly interested in the line up, is my money best spent somewhere else?

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
