This is a stand-out for me, especially as I'm just a bit in love with him.

Wish you hadn't put the 'Jolene' duet thought in my head! Has to happen. He may well do his version as a tribute in his own set but would that be stealing the old girl's thunder? Old girl meant in the most affectionate of ways. She's another must-see for me :)

I was just considering this had the early potential of becoming the new Nick Cave thread. Your arrival has confirmed it.

:D

I love Jack but they're not in the same league for me. One of you people needs to show my level of craziness and dedication to keep a thread going that long.

Yeah man, it was great! Barrier directly in front of Jack, great night. Wish I'd have managed a few other gigs that tour but money wouldn't allow it aha

Ally Pally the night before Brid was good too. The Kills supported, so I made sure I got to that one too.

Yeah I remember seeing that, would've loved to have seen The Kills supporting in Brid although Willy Moon wasn't bad but we can't have everything haha

He's played Carolina drama as well which is one of best raconteurs songs.

Consolers of the lonely is ace and Carolina drama is incredible. I work with VERY difficult children and on a car journey we listened to this ( despite the kids being brought up on terrible happy hardcore) song constantly and it encouraged one to pick up and play guitar. If he plays this I think I'll cry. Has massive meaning for me

While listening to Elephant, I had to stop to listen to Ball and Biscuit another 2 times. That's going to sound insane on the pyramid

This , my all time fave Jack white / Stripes tune, his guitar playing on this is amazing, i seem to remember them doing it at the Brits live a few years back... amazing. My brother made me laugh and left me quite gobsmacked when he commented that he didn't really like that type of stuff as it was like Hendrix in a guitar w*nking sort of way with no substance! Each to there own i suppose :)

    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
