nah, that's not quite how things works in festival promotion/medialand.

As a generalisation, why put out all of the attention-grabbing names just the once, when if you split them you get people's attention more than once and so have a greater more than one big chance of tempting into buying tickets.

It's probably the case by this time of year that a fest like T in July could annouce almost all of it's line-up in one go, but it never does - to get those extra chances of getting people's attention.

It's probably for that very reason that they announced The Libs a while back.

I don't think Geoff does it deliberately.

He'll know of all the acts who are confirmed, like they're etched in his head.

He'll be less interested in learning by rote the bands that are going to be announced in a specific press release, so it's not really a massive surprise if he strays off the script a little sometimes.

In recent years, after the initial line-up announcement, we've rarely seen any other big names being announced. So in terms of the festival big hitters, this is probably our lot.

guess in 2013, Calvin and Guetta were pretty obviously R1 headliners. I remember we didn't want to believe Beady Eye were R1 headliners for a while

Beady Eye were announced the day tickets went on sale along with 3/4 other acts just after the main announcement. I remember Calvin Harris wasn't on the poster that year either but people started tweeting T asking why he wasn't on it and he was confirmed later in the day.

Yeah, that was it. I'd forgotten about them tweeting him, but yeah, if I remember right they started retweeting/replying to people asking for Calvin Harris then tweeted him asking if he wanted to play.
