Funny Beck story - his new music is so bad that it reminded me how good his earlier stuff was, which reminded me that I only ever had his stuff on tape, which prompted me to go out last weekend and buy Mellow Gold and Odelay on CD. So well done Beck, even by making shit music for over a decade you're still racking up album sales.

I haven't listened to all his new album - by new stuff I meant his last three or four records (I know not really 'new') - but generally the stuff he's produced over that period I've found tuneless and directionless. Bogged down in experimentalism (experimentalisation?).

Well he returned to Odelay's sound with Guero. If I were to guess, I think he'd value the newer experimental stuff more than Odelay and Midnite Vultures. He wears hats now.
