Yawn.

My whole point is there was no need to claim you knew who the 3 headliners were. Whoever said Eavis didn't even know is right, he does it every year! If Eavis doesn't know how does Neil know?

Ok Neil, WHY back in July were you were "as certain as you could ever get"?

Was it a rumour you had heard?

Was it a source within each of the bands?

Was it a source within the Festival?

Was it a feeling you had?

Fair question I think, and you cant be worried about upsetting a source who ended up giving you false info

I stand by my words, no differently to how you stand by your own inability to understand my words. :)

Eavis doesn't sit around until November each year and then pick three names from a hat. I guess it's never occurred to you within your deep analysis of what I've said I believe has gone on.

Russy, you're right, it doesn't matter. It just bothers me that Neil acts like he knows something before giving himself the wiggle room if it doesn't happen ("things can change, nothing set in stone").

Anyone can do this but Neils a trusted source to some on here and people believe him BECAUSE he acts like he's in the know.

"Led Zeppelin are in advanced talks to play this year, but nothings signed yet so it might not happen"

Here's a (made up) example of how I can make an outlandish claim, but put in a pre requisite which covers me if it doesn't happen. If I'm right I look like I know stuff if not, well "things can change, nothing is guaranteed"

I have never in my life heard Neil name one of his "sources" even if the info turns out to be garbage. I understand protecting the anonymity of sources but not if they are feeding you duff info. You owe them nothing in this case, so name them.

So with that in mind, lets establish where Neils Depeche/Elbow/Mac info came from?

Anyway, back to this "grudge"?

For me to give up my sources i'd have to believe them to be wrong.

But as you're being a bit dumb, I just know that you'll come back and tell me they were wrong.

Still avoiding the question Neil. How did you know that's who Eavis was referring to? Band source, Festival source you'll be giving nothing away telling us where the info is from/

mrtourette, why are you so willing to believe him? You say how do I know he's lying, well how do you know he's not? I'm asking how he knew that's what Eavis had planned?

If he told you Mars was made of cheese would you believe him? Would you ask me to prove it isn't?

Usually when someone makes an outlandish statement the emphasis is on them to prove it's correct, not for a doubter to prove he is wrong.

I cant prove it, which is why I'm asking Neil HOW he knew

You're right Neil, this has become exactly what I complained about in the first place and for that I apologise but I didn't expect to defend myself against what appears to me to be obvious.

It's my opinion that you imply you know more than you do. It doesn't bother me and I've adjusted my belief in the accuracy of your posts a long time ago. I just think it's a bit pathetic.

As are the insinuations that because my opinion is different that I must be from another forum, campsite or have some sort of grudge. I mean come on people, he posts endless rumours, never substantiates them and ends up wrong much more than he's right, why do you have so much faith in him?

why should he name his sources? what would we gain from knowing them anyway?

you'd gain nothing unless you knew their place in things, and I'd lose the trust of people who choose to trust me.

I have lots of people tell me stuff. Some is dismissed out of hand, some is investigated as much as it can be (which can sometimes lead to success, sometimes via other sources), while sometimes the source I know well enough to take at their word. What sources get to hear and people choose to send me can depend year to year - so sometimes I might get a lot of info, and sometimes I might get none.

I can never know if any is true until there is an announcement that confirms it, and sometimes it was true at the time but things have changed to make it not true.

That's how it goes and I've never pretended otherwise.

The stuff I become (as much as I ever can) certain about gets marked as a TBC on the line-ups page, and the record of those can speak for itself.

I'm relatively new here (since 2007 reading), but I can't recall a single time where he's said someone is definitely playing and been wrong. Bono's back aside.

And the SR's are right around 75% of the time.

And a rumour is just that, which is where I think people like Mr domino get pissed off. If all the rumours were to headline, it'd have to last 2 weeks.

scruffylovemonster, He will never let you know!! He will always peddle out the same lines, take the Mac, Depeche Mode and Elbow rumours from last year. We know these are untrue but yet, he still won't say HOW or WHY he thought they were headlining

For goodness sake Neil, gonnae just bugger off. No one cares who you like, who you don't like or are interested in these petty arguments that you seem to specialise in. It descends into a battle of semantics and contributed not one iota to ant discussions.

You don't like Prince, great!

You think 80s music is garbage, brilliant!

Geez, it's your forum and you're probably the most guilty party when it comes to derailing threads

(Tin hat on) Why don't you go and speak to your "sources" and post some more cryptic clues about who's playing...

    • Ghost did it on their last tour  and there was a whole article of people complaining about it at the Manchester gig cause somehow they werent informed and didnt know why there was a massive queue to enter the venue. At MSG everyone was given a souvenir ticket which had their seat info written on it so you knew where go to. Itll be fine.   added dates due to sign ups for presale.
    • If anyone happens to have a Sunday ticket (or two) to sell then I would be interested in buying for face value. Thanks!
    • NIN and Bjork for sure 😉
    • When are  the stage splits ??
    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
