Is it just me or is any body else not bothered if prince plays

Not bothered in the slightest. I might check him out dependent what else is on, but it's definitely not a 'must see'.

Perhaps part of that is driven by the fact that it was mainly people with little musical taste that liked Prince in the 80s which causes me to want to swerve him.

(think that's wrong TonyB? Then just look at the other artists who were big in 1985 like Prince, and feel free to point out those who are worthy of mention ... not a lot, not a lot at all!! There's a reason why! Music in the 80s was shite and that included Prince ... it's only popular now cos music now is even worse).

Any reason you started a new thread for this and didn't just post it in one of the existing Prince threads?

Perhaps because he felt the need to express his dislike of Prince without those stupidly loved up on the basis of what they've been told to like by musically inept middle aged men shouting him down?

From the bbc:

I asked him about Glastonbury and he has heard of it. "Do you want me to play there tomorrow?" he joked before insisting he was "concentrating on these shows in London, I don't know what's happening after". To which I asked "That's not a no though?", to which he said, "No!"

To be fair I think people are sold on Prince for his reportedly great live shows, and for the hype he's built up over the years about him.

As for his music... generally shit (Neil completely right that virtually nobody with any taste was into him in his 80s pomp) but with enough really stand-out pop classics over his 30+ year recording career that there's easily enough quality material to keep people going. Plus he throws in some excellent covers.

Basically I'd still definitely go and see him.

    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
    • Proper loser behaviour wearing a tee like that. Me and my mate play a game every year called ‘Boomer Tees’ and there’s some gems every time.
