Prince, Metallica and Outkast confirmed for Glastonbury 2014 Festival today?

which begs the question "how good are they?" if Glastonbury is the only place you (that's a generic 'you' )want to see someone. Not forgetting that with 99% of the acts at any festival, you won't get the full show. It'll be a cut down version.

hmmm i can't see Outkast being Bestivals 'big' act though, in the vain of The Cure, Stevie Wonder or Elton John. more a middle-ish headliner, so i expect the third (probably Sunday) headliner to be somebody huge (and the Friday headliner to be Foals or someone in that ilk)

it's funny how people were wetting themselves with excitement, suggesting it would be the best thing ever to see Outkast (or anyone), and are then in two minds about seeing them somewhere else

well there goes my theory! i know he's just trying to lower people's ridiculous expectations but it's a bit weird for him to straight up say (basically) 'it's all downhill from here'

Yeah, not sure how I would feel if I were the other bands due to headline and he said that.

Maybe that is what Glasto should do, say that acts aren't playing so that acts don't get annoyed (Prince - is that right?)

i'm sure the other two (three) headliners will be well aware of their size compared to Outkast. just a weird marketing strategy to go out and say 'if you didn't think Outkast were big enough to headline then you're sure gonna be disappointed with our other headliners!'. i'm expecting bands like Foals (or that general size) to be the headliners then (although hopefully something a bit more exciting than Foals)

I think those upset by this should perhaps blame Gigwise for starting to get their hopes up in the first place, maybe if you all complain they'll stop making stuff up - unlikely I know but there is a slim chance they'll change their ways.

Not really - perhaps Bowie, and Daft Punk aren't doing any festival appearances. That only leaves Prince - who could be an exclusive elsewhere.

i love Foals but they're fast becoming one of those bands who just seem to be at every festival, all of the time, peddling out the same setlist, so i'd find them a rather uninspiring headliner (still don't quite see them as a headliner despite them doing Latitude)

Chase & Status seem quite likely i reckon. wouldn't at all be surprised if they were there (seem to have a dance headliner most years and they seem like one of the only realistic ones left who haven't done it)
