Prince, Metallica and Outkast confirmed for Glastonbury 2014 Festival today?

This year we'll win the league replaced by This year Prince will headline.

We know it's not going to happen but there's a chance. Not much of a chance but just enough to cling on to.

Then, at the end of the season, Man Utd win again / Kasabian headline.

Correct me if wrong, not a big prince fan... But aren't 3rdeyegirl just a backing band he's toured with? Maybe they didn't get the memo or are simply not involved with his glastonbury headline slot.

Metallica aren't ruled out - neither are The Eagles. AC/DC have been mentioned but seem so unlikely as to not even be in consideration - likewise ABBA. Springsteen, Neil Young and U2 are still active this summer, but none seem likely to return. Radiohead and Madonna seem to be on hiatus again and there aren't any signals from the Oasis camp. Likewise Blur. Kanye West hasn't distanced himself from playing, no idea what Tom Petty's up to and that also applies to the Stone Roses and Pearl Jam.

After that, all your left with - who? Muse, Coldplay, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Elbow, Rihanna, Biffy Clyro (Reading Exclusives?), The Foo Fighters, The Strokes.

Difficult to read the tea leaves on this one.

both equally exciting and frustrating (although, right now, more frustrating as i REALLY wanted Prince and can only assume that whoever's in 'his place' will be a lesser act (at least in my eyes, anyway)

for some reason out of all those stone roses feels most likely, though i have no idea what they are up to at the moment. Are they recording a new album? or was that shelved?

The Roses always seemed a realistic choice for this year given that they've milked their reunion dry over the last two years, but there haven't been any indications that they're still playing shows into this year.

it all came down to timing really - the reunion unfortunately happened in the year Glastonbury took a fallow year. if a festival had been on in 2012, they definitely would've been headlining

if they did play i'd assume they'd be wheeling out the same set they've been playing for the past two years (which is the only reason i have a slight doubt that it's them)

I think The Stone Roses are not different enough from the other headliners to be the final act.

I also think Adele is another 'possible' to be thrown into the hat.

Bowie would surely want to do some smaller gigs first.

That said, Led Zep did their O2 concert and the O2 only in 2007 so I guess big one-offs can be done.

Similarly, Pink Floyd at Live 8.
