The Non-Headlining Acts 2014

Back by popular demand, it's the 'Non-Headlining Acts' thread, 2014 edition.

Pixies seem to be the main rumour at this point for one of the Other Stage headline slots, and I for one would be very happy if that rumour came to fruition.

Babyshambles are back on tour, Franz Ferdinand too. Some have mentioned the idea of the Cribs headlining the Park which would be excellent, they got some good reviews for their show at Y-Not festival. Unfortunately, I think Sigur Ros will finish touring at the end of this year, but you never know! They may make an appearance.

Who would you like to see next year?

Just want to get there for the first time.

Franz Ferdinand & the black keys are both good shouts.

I'd love to see the prodigy there again.

Others.

The 1975. Alabama shakes. The strypes. Hot chip. Richard Ashcroft. Kodaline.

and for the early hours of the morning, The Ratpack

Considering my music tastes most of my suggestions will be towards the heavier side of things.

  • Pixies would be awesome!!
  • Pendulum with a new album??
  • Nine Inch Nails Other Headliner would be amazing??
  • Queens of the Stone Age this year subbing Pyramid? Must happen!
  • Not my type of band but could The Cure sub Pyramid or Headline Other, don't see them as a Pyramid Headliner.
  • The Black Keys and Foals would get the crowd going.
  • Deftones would be a dream to see return to Glasto.
  • Could Joe Bonamassa or Joe Satriani or Steve Vai do a Slash type slot on the Pyramid?
  • Soundgarden would be amazing to add.

What about Blondie in some capacity? With a new album they'll be deffo touring!

Imogen Heap, Haim, Chvrches, MGMT, Manics, Black Keys, Foster The People, The Horrors, Ed Sheeran, Lily Allen, Garbage and Example all have new albums too, so imagine they'll all have a shot at being there, which is good, and bad (Ed Sheeran).

The Fratellis would be pretty cool!

I'd love to see Lily Allen there. I have seen her perform 4 times (not at glasto) and she's great. I also met her at Glasto this year.. well, danced with her and some other celebs. Very surreal moment!

I would like to see Jessie J there with her new album which came out today I believe.

Skinny Lister were playing in Bimble Inn this year, it was great. I'd like to see them on a slightly bigger stage again. They play at the pub I work in and they're fantastic but it's nice to be in the crowd for once and not behind the bar!

I made a promise to myself to finally see Fatboy Slim this year and it didn't happen. I tried to! I couldn't actually hear him in Arcadia so I gave up and opted for sitting by a fire instead. I think he'd be worthy of a slot on a larger stage.

And last but not least, BOWIE! As a surprise guest, if not a headliner.

Also, I think it's good to have up and coming bands/singers that aren't... so typical I guess. Some may disagree or put Jessie J, Lily Allen etc in the same category but I find Glastonbury a refreshing break from the constant sound of Rihanna, Nicky Minaj, Lady Gaga etc.

Yes Lilly Allen and Jessie J are really different to all the other girls of pop. Doesn't sound like them at all, really thoughtful and intelligent music. Yes that difference really shines through with "Do It Like a Dude" or one Lilly's songs where shes just changed the words...also how did forget they are both up and coming acts despite both doing mega tours and having a previous album each :P
