Lineup 2015

Recommended Posts

The Prodigy (playing after Black Keys)

The Black Keys

I think that's already clear from the way you laid it out.

Foo Fighters (quickest rebook ever)

No it wouldn't be, it would be three years, which Foos have done before.

Are you trying to place The Prodigy in like Calvin Harris was at IOW? Matt, they'll outright headline or they just won't play.

What makes you so sure of that though? Because they headlined sonisphere and download since playing r/l last? I was titling black keys as headliner and the prodigy playing afterwards.

So technically they are still headlining.

They subbed at R&L in 09' because Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned was a shit album that lost them a lot of popularity and 'excitement' factor (for those on here who are all about the excitement). They had only just released IMD when they were announced to play and that was a hugely popular LP that has gained them a hell of a lot of fans, especially with the younger generation. Since playing R&L they've had a big arena tour, sold out MK Bowl, headlined Download, Creamfields and even Global Gathering and Soni this year without a new album out.

Basically, they dropped down to being a strong sub because they had been inactive for years but have definitely proven themselves as outright headliners since.

2002 to 2005.

2012 to 2015.

OMG ITS GONNA HAPPEN

Looking back at 2005, they had 9 future headliners on the undercard. Not really relevant to anything, but it does worry me a little looking at the current lineup. Edited by 2rare2die

There might be nine future headliners on this year's line up.

Someone should work out the average number of future headliners on the bill each year, then we can argue which ones from this year will fill that quota.

I dunno if the Vaccines have missed their chance by not doing anything of note since '12. Their last album wasn't so popular either IIRC. They're probably a good shout if they release a popular album late next year though for '16.

Their last album got to number 1 and seems to have fairly decent 7-8/10 reviews across the board, think they were supposed to have started recording their new album by now but not sure about that

They played the O2 Arena and got good spots at all the other festivals in 2013 so that's quite notable too. I don't really think they're in the basket for next year or there'd be more word about them coming back but I can see the break doing their demand good.

    • I am very possibly wrong about this but I do think that the pitch you get allocated appears to be related to your time of arrival, (i.e. you get the next one available) rather than the price you paid for a small, medium or large pitch.  They all appear to be the same size to me.

    • I take my lad to the local non-league club - Royston Town - not he's 13, he goes there with his mates and he plays in their youth team.  Not many people there - lucky if they hit 800, but lovely supporting the town team.  I've took him to some league clubs too - Cambridge and Stevenage are great to visit and not crazy prices - his first one was Cambridge v Sunderland (I'm a mackem) when they were in league 1, so a great experience for him.  The England matches aren't too bad value either at Wembley - it's just the parking that stings you. Problem is, he's a City fan, so at some point have to bite the bullet and get him up to the Ethiad. Have done the tour, but he'd love a proper game....my wallet, less so!
    • Said it before, but if Annie Lennox is available next year, then it would be an absolute crime to instead book anyone else. She's rare and legendary enough that you drop all other plans.
