Lineup 2015

Why not? They're usually good with headliners, and often get bands who are playing big outdoor shows elsewhere, which is probably something Muse/Foos would do if they're active next year

They try not to do that. It did them over quite badly last year.

I wouldn't say they're that good with headliners either, personally.

Glastonbury: muse, fleetwood mac, Florence and the machine (as a backup for a lined up headliner that definitely won't do it)

Reading and Leeds: the black keys, red hot chili peppers, the vaccines

T in the park: Florence and the Machine, muse, Coldplay

V festival: Coldplay, kasabian

IOW: kasabian, arctic monkeys, justin timberlake

Download: Blink 182, Tool, Metallica

I know they claim to try not to but it clearly doesn't end up working out because they've had at least one for the last few years now.

EDIT: In fact I think they've had one basically evert year

I just can't see them getting two massive headliners in the one year.

Glastonbury: Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac, Florence & The Machine.

R&L: The Prodigy, The Black Keys, Metallica.

T: Coldplay, Florence & The Machine, Muse.

V: Mumford & Sons, Coldplay.

Download: Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine.

IOW: Mumford & Sons, Kasabian, Muse.

Sonisphere: Tool, Blink 182, Slipknot.

If Tool (STILL) haven't got an album out by next year, swap them out at Soni for Machine Head or something, idk.

Well if their album comes out I think they will, like on the last album. It's not really optimism because I won't go to Download; I just want some other UK shows as soon as possible.

Haha no, I was saying you were optimistic because they wouldn't do it, I don't really know Tool so have no real idea what kind of shows they would play. It's just you want to see them so bad and constantly predict them (no bad thing though!) :)

Well if their album comes out I think they'll headline Download or Soni; it's the best thing for them in the UK.

Why have Glasto not got Fleetwood Mac this year by the way? I thought that was nailed on after not getting them last year. Surely the chance has gone now?

One of the members has cancer so I think they decided on next year instead as he's been having treatment this year. They're not playing shows until September I don't think. They've basically said they're doing it next year I think.

from memory - one of their members became ill so they cancelled their tour

then Mcvie reunited with them so they announced a new tour - glasto had moved on after getting a "Not this year" I won't be surprised if they've already been booked for next year

they pulled out because they couldn't do it, not because they didn't want to.

Before everyone else has had their hands on them? I don't see it.

Got Foos first out everyone on the last album, didn't they (along with T)?

And Muse haven't played there since 08. Do headliners ever play Glasto and IOW? I can't see Muse back at V, despite them being a huge, mainstream act, because from my experience all V-goer kinds fucking hate them.

Yeah last time around. I'm not sure if things have changed since then or else I think they'd be beating other festivals to the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and so on.

EDIT: I meant to write them.

Aye but where can Foos realistically play unless Glasto decide they want them? Probably a bit too soon for R&L, and I doubt V will want them, and aside from those I think IOW would beat DL/Soni to them. Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian can play Glasto/V/R&L most years.

idk would RHCP play reading next year?

I think who i'd consider to be in the mix for next year would be

The Black Keys

The Prodigy

The Vaccines

Jack White? Or is that wishful thinking?

Foo Fighters

I'd say RHCP sound like the obvious but not probably not gonna happen choice.

Based on this year's lineup they clearly don't give a shit about shite past perforances. RHCP's day at IOW has sold out so proves they're a decent draw, and they probably won't face much competition for them. New album, too. Can't see much other options for big headliners other than Metallica.

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
