That theoretical Sunday that will never happen is way better than that theoretical Friday that will never happen.

No way. The flaming lips yes but Weezer into TSM into Pearl jam is just a splendid evening of music. While I enjoy LCD Soundsystem and Daft Punk, I reckon it just wouldn't be as good.

Only because you're the last hipster jerking off to Daft Punk. :P

I still reckon RAM's a decent album. It's no Discovery or Homework but it's better than Human After All. Some of the album tracks on it are ace.

But no, the main reason is the 2 below. I've not seen PJ or DP, but I have seen Pumpkins, Weezer, LCD and Flaming Lips, and the latter two were leagues better live. And I think Weezer are overrated here anyway, good band but but not particularly special. I'd put them more in the same league as Garbage, Ash and Feeder than LCD, Lips, Pumpkins, Pixies, etc.

I think RAM is just mediocre, which is more than Human After All, I suppose. I think they're a hugely overrated act in the music world - which isn't me trying to be edgy as I know a lot of people say that but I just think they are marketed very well and the abstinence from live shows does wonders.

I dunno with Weezer. A lot of the stuff put out by Ash, Garbage and Placebo (I replaced Feeder because they're shit) was sort of popular-at-the-time stuff that weren't critically acclaimed but just enjoyed by a lot of fans and still are today, plus they were about the festivals and gigs quite a lot. Weezer don't fall into any of those categories. I don't think I'd hold them up there with the Pixies or the Smashing Pumpkins, however I may probably file them with the Flaming Lips because of the time of their best output and their activities since...

Daft Punk are hugely overrated, mainly because they're one of the few dance acts it's acceptable for both rock fans and hipsters to like. It doesn't stop them still being really quite good.

I like Placebo far more than I like the other 4 there. I still don't think they're a particularly special band but I reckon they've got a bit more about them in terms of variation of styles and subtlety. I don't really think Weezer are that highly lauded anywhere else, they're just one of those bands that everyone here wants to see at R+L more often. I think it's partially the same syndrome as what you've described for Daft Punk - lack of live shows over here.

And Flaming Lips's best stuff shits all over that of most of other bands, as do their live performances when on song. I like the evolution of styles of the Lips as well, they've not stuck to anything particularly long yet still managed to master a few.

Hmm. I've always had the feeling that Flaming Lips are a band that need to be loved, and I've always just liked them. I've not seen them live yet though and I've obviously heard great things about the live shows.

Weezer's heyday is definitely critically lauded though and I'm sure they have enough fans of those albums to sell shows comfortably here. They do well to still have fans though after what they've put their followers through since Matt Sharp left. It certainly isn't just here that loves them though, although I'm not sure how far the love goes past 'internet people'. :P

Yeah, but if you don't love Flaming Lips there's something wrong with your soul.

You internet person.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
