Moyes never had the dressing room in the first place to loose. This sacking is a result of sulky player power IMO. Yes Moyes probably should have shown em whos boss from day one, but its kinda pathetic that this bunch of players needed fear to play at a high standard. Champions to 7th is not all his fault by a long stretch.

How much blame do Utd fans land at the feet of Ferg Face? His finger prints are all over this. Maybe best to not listen to him this time around?

I genuinely feel sorry for Moyes in all this. He was -never- the right man for the job.

I also think Sam Allardyce should be given a chance to step up for a big job.

van Gaal has already interviewed for the job basically. Id say that convo pretty much went "if there is no CL football for Utd next year the gig is yours". He is simply waiting by the phone. It will be interesting to see what backroom staff are put in place.

van Gaal should be allowed hand pick every last one and that includes getting rid of Giggs if he feels its best (which it probably is unless they see eye to eye from day dot)

As an Everton fan I feel bad for him. Some things will be his responsibility (the players not wanting to work for him), however given the squad it was always going to be tough to emulate previous sucess (especially with what appears to be a pretty clueless new Chief Executive also finding his feet).

A good point made on MOTD2 about Everton wingers always tracking back and defending (something whcih they did in his day as well) whereas the likes of Kagawa and Nani did not give one solitary fuck about working defensively for the team. There's no way he would have tolerated that at Everton but it seems he's been caught between his values at Everton and wanting to use these supposedly superior and attacking shiny new toys at Man Utd, and instead of meshing the best of both worlds (as Martinez seems to have done) he's managed to bring out the worst of both situations and has ended up with a tactically limited team without the hard-working nature to make up for it. Unfortunately that's on his head.

Anyway he'll sit on his millions for a few months until the first lower mid-table sacking next season (West Ham?) and then I'm sure he'll make a relative success of whoever he takes over.
