clash clash clash

I did have a clash with Hives/Haim, but then I remembered that I can't enjoy watching Haim as I get too distracted by their Bassist gurning her way through each song. I'm sure she's a lovely girl but the faces she pulls are just so distracting!

In other news, Portishead vs Chic is a killer.

I've got off pretty easy this year:

Fri - Crystal Castles v Simian Mobile Disco (probs go with CC as I've never seen them, and SMD have a longer set so we could wander over afterwards)

Fri - Goat v Gold Panda

Sat - Fuck Buttons v Goat

I think I'll go see Gold Panda (was prepared to miss him until he released a beautiful new album last week, the fucker), then see Fuck Buttons for 30 mins, then do the giant pilgrimage through the late-night corridor to get to Hell in time for Goat...

Other than that, I've no massive clashes, but the Goat dilemma is real frustrating.

pretty much the same as i suspected, but...

Friday:

Arctic Monkeys vs Portishead vs Chic vs The Horrors vs Crystal Castles. fuck. Chic wins

Solange vs Local Natives. Solange wins

Tame Impala vs Frightened Rabbit. Tame Impala win

The Hives vs Haim. The Hives win

Saturday:

Jagwar Ma vs Melody's Echo Chamber. decide on the day

Badbadnotgood vs Haim vs Alunageorge. decide on the day (probably Badbadnotgood)

Primal Scream vs Rodriguez vs Nas. Primal Scream probably win

Rolling Stones vs Public Enemy vs Fuck Buttons. Rolling Stones win

Sunday:

Vampire Weekend vs Jessie Ware. Vampire Weekend probably win

Nick Cave vs Smashing Pumpkins vs Tyler + Earl. uck. Smashing Pumpkins win

tbh as many as there are, only two (Friday headliners and Sunday subs) really bother me, as they are absolutely horrible. oh well!

My first Glastonbury; I didn't think I could have preempted how bad those clashes really are -

Friday:

Solange vs. Local Natives / Miles Kane vs. Phil Jupitus

Frightened Rabbit vs. Tame Impala

Dinosaur Jr. vs. Tom Tom Club

Arctic Monkeys vs. Portishead vs. Chic vs. The Horrors vs. Crystal Castles (God, that's bad)

Saturday:

Laura Mvula vs. Dry the River

Elvis Costello vs. The Orb

Primal Scream vs. Johnny Marr vs. Rodriqeuz vs. The Proclaimers

The Rolling Stones vs. Public Enemy vs. Fuck Buttons

Sunday:

Public Image Ltd. vs Kenny Rogers

Of Monsters and Men / Editors vs. Vampire Weekend

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds vs. Smashing Pumpkins vs. Cat Power

The xx vs. Bobby Womack vs. Phoenix vs. Park Special Guest?

GAHHHHHHHHHHH.

In terms of clashes that are still undecided, only Arctic Monkeys vs Chic remains for me.

A band which I've grown up with, going up against disco legends. In fairness, if it was at any other festival which lacks atmosphere, it'd be Arctic Monkeys every time. But there's just something about Glastonbury which means the Chic gig could be classic. Still not convinced Arctic Monkeys will be amazing either...

Arctics/Chic/Portishead still pains me. To a degree you can throw the Courteeners into that mix too, logistically. Chic win.

Johnny Marr/The Proclaimers/Rudimental too on Saturday. Would have liked to see all those. Rudimental if I'm up for it I think, Proclaimers if I need to recharge.

Friday:

The Lumineers vs Molotov Jukebox (the former is my husband's first must see of the weekend, the latter is mine so we have to split for this one)

Chic vs Portishead

Saturday:

Penguin Café vs Elvis Costello

Steve Winwood vs Newton Faulkner vs Willy Mason vs Nas (a 4 way split – life’s a bitch and then you clash!)

The Rolling Stones vs Public Enemy

Sunday:

Of Monsters and Men vs Michael Kiwanuka

I'm actually desperate for help now.

Do I see Alt-J (one of my favourite albums of recent times, and never seen), Tom Tom Club (who i fucking adore, and haven't seen live and think will be great), or Dinosaur Jr (who are one of my favourite bands but have seen twice already).

Anybody got any experience with the above? any recommendations or stories that could sway me?

I have a completely resolvable clash, but don't know which way to do it... I want to see Jake Bugg and Half Moon Run. I can do either of the following:

Jake Bugg - Fri, 1hr set, Pyramid

HMR - Sat, 40min set, William's Green

or

HMR - Fri, 1hr set, Park

Jake Bugg - Fri, 40min set, Acoustic

It doesn't really matter...just wondered if anyone has seen either/both, or thinks one will be particularly suited to either stage. I have no idea what William's Green is like...

Thanks!
