Are there any places on site with internet?

I would normally be totally against any use of computers etc at a festival, but my final uni results come in on the Friday, so it would be nice to not have to wait the whole weekend to find out !!

This is one of the few ocassions I can understand people needing wifi onsite. I had a similar problem myself a few years ago when going to Rockness but luckily the results came in late the night before we left, hope you get the results you're hoping for!

The Chill'n' Charges (They might have changed names to EE tent or something this year..?) have computer & internet access...best to go really late at night or really early in the morning as queues get manic throughout the day.... and I've actually witnessed people on FACEBOOK in there?! Words fail me for those guys when so many people wanted tickets to genuinely 'do' Glasto!

Haha! Timing eh?!

Half the world seems to be taking smartphones so maybe someone can let you check your results w/o hanging around in EE's 'pleasure dome'.

Here's hoping they make you party even harder to celebrate!

Im not sure why there isn't wifi across the site.

Not so much a problem in recent years but there have been times after the headliners finish when you simply cant get through. And a text message can often take days to get through.

If EE put wifi around they'd remove the data traffic, allow people to use the likes of imessage, whatsapp, and improve accuracy of location services. Actually I've just answered my own question, they wouldnt do this as they cant charge for it..

Efestivals Glastonbury rules

- Turn off all electrical devices and leave them at the gate.

- Do not ask about sport scores over the weekend

- Its ok to be happy about a band member getting rushed to hospital if there is a chance a act you like can replace them

What is that supposed to even mean, TO DO GLASTONBURY PROPERLY YOU MUST HAVE NO ACCESS TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD.

Ill be on the internet whenever I have 5 minutes free on site. Im taking a backup battery that can charge my iphone so I dont have to worry about going to the tents, why? because I want to keep in touch with friends and things going on.

Jeez this forum has some strange morals.

Wow, touchy much? I just think that there's better things to be doing than sitting around a pod uploading pictures onto facebook, which about 5 people were doing at the time...I get people wait for their phones to charge but it seems a bit excessive/wasteful to waste time there unless absolutely necessary... I tell my parents I'm there safe, and only really use my phone to contact people about the site, I'm not saying everyone should do the same but it's rather ridiculous sitting on facebook for 30mins+ :/

*edit* Use the tents to charge phone somewhat, then leave as soon as possible.

I get your point (I take backup battery kit that does me for the weekend) but to say they should let people who want to do Glastonbury "genuinely" (whatever the hell that means) is just a dick thing to say.

They paid the ticket the same as I did so they can do whatever they want to do with their time, if anything it takes them away from the crowds of the stages.

I don't have a problem with it, but I do have to ask why anyone would want to do it!

Naive enough on my first Glastonbury in 2010 I brought back up chargers and batteries for my iPhone, suffice to say I didn't last very long before I had to wait 45 minutes to queue then 2-3 hours charging my phone up.

It's Glastonbury, the world is your oyster there and I can't see why anyone would want to waste their time charging their phones, unless it's circumstances like results, illness or something very important!

Saying that, I do take my iPhone to reading and Leeds when I go cause they use that Lockerhouse, where you can store your stuff and let your phone charge without a care in the world at night and use it in the day! The only thing that beats Glastonburys policy!

you kids and your smartphones make me sick.

i just checked and my phone hasn't made or recieved a call since the 17th of May. almost a month! nobody wants to talk to me and it appears i don't want to talk to them. my dad did call me from his pocket so i got to hear a bit of him at work, and my dealer texts when supplies come in, but that's business.

i wish i had use for fucking 4G and wi-fi at Glastonbury! ah well, it makes the facade of Glasto veteran slightly easier to maintain i suppose.

Thanks guys

Not sue about taking a smart phone, as my blackberry got pinched at Reading last year, so might just be taking an old thing with me this year. Might have to go with giving somebody back home my details to log on and ring me my results.

Thanks for all the good wishes!

Just give your details to a family member of friend, ring them up at a certain time, no faffing about in silly queues getting into even sillier chill and charge tents. Get results and celebrate :)
