beer in beer tents

The Red Flag bar used to be akin to a beer festival, but that didn't exactly help me to explore the rest of the site much :)

Fortunately, pretty much every bar had at least one straight-from-the-barrel option in 2011. Bath Gem was in a couple and there was also a bar selling St Austel beers somewhere too. Hopefully I'll find it again in a couple of weeks.

There has been a Bath Ales bar in the far corner of the West Holts field for a few years now I think.

Highly recommend this if its there again this time. GEM is a great beer.

Used to take a half barrel on a sack truck for camp site consumption but cant manage 38 pints on my own these days.

A question for Glasto Worker

just looking at the bar price pics and the thing that stood out was the Pimms prices

50ml "glass" for £6 or 200ml in a jug at £7.50 per 50ml

could you explain the diffrence for me please or was it just a typo

and yes i'm from Yorkshire where bargin hunting is a sport ;)

I started a simple thread to ask what beer would be on sale and it ends up with you insulting someone who is answering that question.

Please don't, it is rude, childish and not, in my view, within the spirit of the festival.

Thanks Glastoworker and for you help, working there myself this year so if we meet, I'll buy you a pint.

I am sorry that this rather silly person has decided to spoil the build-up.

Peace

it was £25 for 200ml { + £5 deposit } my shot was taken before the event opened .
sometime before the event opened someone spotted that price was incorrect so it was reduced to £20 for 200ml { + £5 deposit }
In technical terms it was a balls up.
A few years ago at Hop Farm within the Campsite bar which mainly sells cans whoever worked out the pricing must have been well spaced out - I cant recall the actual prices but lets say it was £2 a can - you could also buy 4 cans for £6 but if you bought 6 cans it was £15
We soon spotted that and it was reduced to £7 { it should have been a bit more but we did not want to mess about with change }
amazingly most people would ask for 4 cans until we pointed out they might as well go for 6 cans.
if there is a saving to be made then most staff will point it out.

ta Glastoworker, first was in 87 when i picked litter with CND, been as a punter, worker, film maker as with you, never looked back.

This year helping a local charity called the Martha Care Trust based in Glastonbury town, yes back to picking litter. Camping in tom's field.

Aim to get down mid-day Tues so will try and meet you at the Bread & roses.......

Cant come too soon!

in fact that bar was run by St Austell Brewery but in recent tweets { or whatever they are called } they have not responded to enquires with regarding if they will be at Glasto 2013 .

I know that many people would assume there is a huge profit in selling beer at Glastonbury but due to the weather and the high fees they charge there is many years where the WBC makes a trading loss and it is possible that St Austell Brewery has decided its not economically viable.

it is possible that another Brewery may have replaced them but who they may be I don't have a clue.

I think the Avalon bar (formerly Ridge & Furrow) had some wheat beer, but it's mainly ales, bitters, IPA, porter and the like straight from the cask. Some very interesting stuff TBH and quite varied. But if you're not a bitter/ale fan then it's not likely to be your thing.

Yeah, I've tried to get into the IPA, they've gotten quite popular here lately. There's a few pale ales that I like, one Irish craft beer called Metalman is really good, but normal Ale I've never been a fan of. Maybe Glasto is a good time to try

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
