Anybody taking any? I don't mean ridiculously massive ones that are going to piss everybody in the proximity off...I mean just standard portable ones that are good for the tent when you're sitting around having a few drinks.

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for cheapish ones, that would be great.

If you really want to take one then these review really well. If you look you can find them under a tener.

Personally when I'm having the last few drinks I like to listen to the sound of the festival. You can hear some very strange things.

Have a pair of Awai A8's. Swapped them for something with an American I met in Australia 20 years ago and they look cheap but are brilliant.

You can get them on e-bay still, second hand, there's a pair here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-AIWA-SCA2-Full-Range-Active-Audio-Speakers-for-Any-Portable-Device-RARE-/321040286262?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item4abf7e0236

slight cosmetic difference but the same inside the box as mine

Would never go without them!

I got one of these last week;

I thought it would be brilliant however I am really impressed and I took it to a mate BBQ last week and he had about 20 people there in an average size garden and you could hear the music from every corner and a lot of people said how good it was.

But I'm not taking it to Glasto!

There's nothing wrong with people having their tunes around their tent, nothing at all. Not to me, at least.

As far as I am concerned, when at glastonbury you should expect either talk, music or falling people at any hour of the day and not be offended when presented with any of them.

I do think people are a bit too precious about this sort of topic. For me, when you're sitting around the tents with your mates, a bit of music in the background (not the music from a stage in the distance) is what's needed.

The thing that makes me laugh is when stuff like "the guide" is quoted. What the guide means and I'm fairly sure references, is soundsystems, proper rig types, that used to be brought along. If you're bringing your ipod speakers, they're not going to kick you out. Also, "the guide" also asks you not to bring class a's and the like, see how much that works.

Just as long as you don't mind us camped next to you, blaring out our favourite "Xfactor Greatest Hits" compilation all day. :dancing:

BTW I recommend the XMI minis - loud for their size and the battery will last the whole festival.

This is what I like to bring hooked up to my 128kbps music collection on my ipod :P

(In seriousness though. the sound of the festival at night is pretty fantastic to listen but part of that is people having fun at their campsites with their shity speakers blaring out wonderwall and such :P)

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
