5htp is, in simple terms, the chemical precursor to serotonin, some people say it helps with MDMA come downs in terms of helping with the anxiety and depression many people suffer after taking MDMA. although there is some evidence to suggest 5htp can alleviate the symptoms of depression most of the trials that this evidence is based on where not of sufficient quality for the findings to considered significant.

It won't do anything for a hangover and there have also been many reports of negative side effects so even if you where considering taking it to treat the after effects of MDMA my advice would be not to as there is simply not enough known about it to determine wether it is A. effective and B. safe.

For hangovers, I use Lifeline. It does to seem to work and it's a natural charcoal-based solution. Its effectiveness lessens depending on how long you're drinking for though so it's not so good for all-day sessions.

I also really recommend Milk Thistle. I take it every day and more when I'm drinking and it really does help.

I usually use a pint of hot & spicy for hangovers/comedown - best takenas soon as the bus opens - sleep until then in the baking heat, drink as fast as humanely possible (it is hot), follow it up with a big fruit smoothie from the stall just up the field, and follow that with a double double expresso with a macchiato top - sorted!

Wish I knew how to do this! Been trying to master moderation with alcohol since I was 15. Now 30 and none the wiser.

Having said that, I don't mind hangovers as much at Glastonbury as I do elsewhere. Could be down to fresh air, more distraction or just getting back on the booze early.

Caffeine, preferably cold fizzy caffiene, and protein, preferably in the form of bacon and eggs, works for me.

And Jaffa Cakes. Must be the sugar.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
