Regarding the walking in and out of bars I am with Thearg on this one. I have never been bothered once in ten years going to Glastonbury with a can or pint in hand to a bar by security. I think most secuirty are happy aslong as they see you aren't drunk, causing a nuisance etc they are happy. I always buy a round or a mate does when we enter a bar so if Glasto-worker says we should be turned away then that bar won't do as well as the other bars on site because I won't go back there again over the weekend and it is highly likely others would feel the same way. In my opinion the vibe is still there :)

From memory can't really remember drinking our own beers in the Bimble Inn.

Think we tend to get a pint in the bars we are in, with our own beers used for when we are out and about.

There are a few bars though at Glastonbury, where we have been told to leave for having our own beers open (even as we walked in). We even got grief one day, when one of our group of 9 was skint so had poured his own car into an empty pint glass (to be discrete for others in there), although we were all buying from the bar the security guard made a point of coming over and making him go outside to finish his drink :/

Guess I must have been lucky, because often one or more of my group will wander into bars with cans as a matter of course at glasto, obviously the majority would be buying from there otherwise we wouldn't go in. I've never even picked up so much as a vibe that the bar staff or security give a shiny wet shit, always just seen it as part of the glasto spirit.

well I will be interested in your figures - I take it you have them all to hand
If we look back a few years - lets say from the year 2000 to 2011 there has been ten events
in which years did the WBC at Glastonbury make a Trading Profit ?
in which years did the WBC at Glastonbury make a Trading Loss ?

I don't have the WBC figures to hand and nor do I don't care about them.

I only know about the independent bars that I've worked at over the years at Glasto and other public events where a large fortune is taken and a small fortune is made.

The WBC might turn a profit if it didn't just sell Tuborg and Gaymers (But I guess this isn't in their control which seems weird).

I pay for decent drinks at Glasto, but overpriced Turborg/Gaymers when I can have something of my choosing from a can, its not going happen!

Bimble Inn - absolutely the best bar on site, probably. I quite like the Cornish Arms though, hope that's there. And of course the Real Ale bar in the Accoustic Field, still great, but not quite as good as when it was on the other side of that same field.

All of these places are better than the desk I am currently sat at :)

    • I wonder if he's going to get into the States for the second match against England. Seems a bit weird having players missing for certain matches but not others as the world cup moves around.
    • Quite lucky as I’ve no interest in Halsey at all so I’ve got time for some food and drink before getting in there.   But yeah… thinking I’ll have to leave early to get a decent spot for Gorillaz
