QOTSA (2011)

Vampire Weekend (2013)

Both acts who have used the O2 Academy in Bournemouth as a warm-up venue before the last two festivals. So I'd say John Grant is extremely likely now, good stuff :)

Park headliner hopefully, not on Friday night though...

Not quite - If anything QOTSA used Glastonbury as a warm up for the Bournemouth gig which was on the Tuesday after G - Sorry to be pedantic

I know Sinead mentioned possibly playing Glastonbury again this year around Christmas time, If she is there and he is there would imagine it is quite likely. I'd love to hear Sinead sing Queen of Denmark with John's band.

That would be magical, what are her own shows like? Does she still play NCTY?

Saw her headline Ramsbottom festival last year and she was great. She started with Queen of Denmark and having seen both of them I'd say she sings that song like her life depends on it but his band are better so that combo would be fantastic. She did do NCTY and several other older songs. She seemed to be in a great place healthwise at the time.

Just on way back from Roundhouse: absolutely amazing gig! Blew me away. Particularly 'Why Don't You Love Me Any More?' Followed by 'Pale Green Ghosts'. Awesome Abba cover too. Really hope he's at Glastonbury now - especially as my friend who loves him is going and couldn't be there tonight.

It appears that we were at the same gig! He was absolutely incredible, wasn't he? Pale Green Ghosts was a personal favorite.

Really want him for Glastonbury now.

I saw him last year and he was fabulous - really engaging and that amazing voice. Wish I'd seen him do 'Angel Eyes' though - one of the most underrated ABBA songs :)

I was really worried about this one. Never has a tour date list suggested Pilton more, yet this was the only evidence. Entirely absent from the rumours list, and with Neil being silent whenever he was discussed, I started to fret.

Never fear! He's playing and NOT the Friday! My clashes are going to be built around seeing John and Arcade Fire. The rest can slot in as is convenient to me :-)

So chuffed about this! Why do we know he's not the Friday? Where do we think he'll be? Park?

Oh how I shall weep and then dance and then weep some more.

He's playing in Brighton. http://johngrantmusic.com/tour-dates/

Park would be the obvious place. In my little bubble, he's too big, but I've no idea really how big he is. The Park Stage headliner would be the ideal setting, but he might be a lower slot JP. We'll see.

Cheers! Hoping for Saturday or Sunday night Park headliner then.

You and me both. That's great news that he's not on Friday! Saturday headline would be ideal... oooh... hang on. Would rather not clash with Pixies. Or De La Soul... aghhh... already stressing about clashes! :-)

Edit: and Mogwai... and Robert Plant! All them and I'll be super happy!!! That's not too much to ask for is it?

Edit2: Elbow, Interpol and jack White too maybe?!?

    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
