see all the people in the "say something controversial" thread saying nick cave is shit, or that they dont "get" him? :sarcastic:

Of course they dont get him. Only a select few understand what he's all about.

I dont think we should mock them, we should pity them.

Imagine thinking the mercy seat, or into my arms, or jubilee street etc was "shit". The poor fools.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are up there, if not at the top at least on a par with the best things on the line up as much as it's been announced so far. But obviously they won't appeal very much to the "I love jolly pop music" crowd. I think they most probably got the best slot at the festival in terms of exposure. Before the last band on the last day of the biggest & best festival, it's a no lose master stroke.

And if they come back another time, there's 1 guess which slot they'll be after.

I'm a relative newcomer so don't know and the question diidn't come up in mastermind. How many times have they played?

I do seem to remember a rumour from a few years back that they would not play again after a disagreement with ME. That was prior to their last appearance.

1994, 1998, 2009, 2013 if I remember rightly. No idea if they played in the 80s. Last 3 times were 2nd top on the main stage

I have heard people mention this disagreement with ME but I dont know anything about it. Anyone know what it was about?

This thread should be treated as a sanctuary from all the insanity elsewhere on the forum, particularly that confessions thread!

Over the years on this forum I've heard people say he's boring, he cant sing, he's too weird looking and more :sarcastic:

Gosh just imagine what it must be like to be a fan of mumford & sons but not like nick cave. It's mind boggling.

Too weird looking? :D

Glad I don't base my musical taste on criteria such as that. I wouldn't have many acts left to like!

Think I'll be flying solo at Cave as all my friends seem to be heading Pumpkins-ward. I need this thread to ensure I stay strong and am not swayed by booze, peer pressure and the fact I will already have been there for PiL.

Nick Cave is the only way.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
