Will this years headliners be as good as 2011!

U2 - massive egos, tiny talent

Coldplay - musical beige

Beyonce - run of the mill pop act, a dime a dozen

Rolling Stones - only in it for the money, last evidenced any creative intent in about 1974

Mumfords- pretend folk music for people who prefer their music beige

Arctic Monkeys - not a bad song writer, some genuinely inventive material, but I'd still rathe be somewhere else

2011 headliners were categorically the worst Pyramid headliners of all time. Enough to make anyone write off the main stage completely and absorb something from the rest of the festival that wasn’t just there to panda to the 'younger audiences’...who apparently weren’t represented at the festival until that point...precisely because the festival isn’t supposed to represent lazy, watered down carbon-copy RnB.

Glastonbury always has headliners that are currently relevant... you can't compare to the past.

Beyonce was an inspired Sunday night booking - it meant I didn't have to be anywhere near the pyramid stage and was able to go and chill at the Park watching Gruff Rhys with a nice box of wine. Looks like they've pulled that one out of the bag again this year with Mumford and Sons!

Never really been a fan of U2 or Rolling Stones but more excited by Rolling Stones. I watched a couple of songs from U2s set to give them a chance to convert me, but it was pretty dire so I headed off I think to Arthur Brown at the Spirit of 71 who ended up one of the highlights for me.

I can't stand Coldplay, not too fussed on Arctic monkeys, so I suppose you could say not too fussed beats can't stand Though I suspect I'll be watching Portishead anyway.

Overall I'd say I'm much happier with this year's lineup than 2011, headliner wise it's slightly better though I suspect there are many who would rather have Coldplay and U2 than Rolling Stones.

The only headliner I can remember with more rain than U2 was The Who and it wasnt even remotely as cold that night. U2 got royally shafted by the weather. They tried their best but could never compete with the conditions.

Give U2 the weather that McCartney (when it was also raining but not as heavily) got and things would have been so much different IMO.

In fairness I can't think of any headliners in the last while that have really triumphed despite the rain during the performance. Pished down during Prodigy in 97 and The Who and both are eminantly forgettable appearances in the broader context.

I didn't think 2011s were anything special. U2, big act and unique for a festival. Coldplay done to death. Beyonce middle of the road, bland pop.

This year. Artic Monkeys done to death. Stones, great although might be over the hill Mumford first big festival headline spot for them so a bit new but still done to death.

All in all, no better or worse subjective of course.
