Kendal and...?

Hi, just wondering what other festivals folks are visitng this year as well as KC, if any?

Last year was our first ever festival (me, other half and 2 kids). We loved it so much we're pretty much going to what ever looks decent enough, within our budget and not too far away from home this year.

So far we're trying out Bearded Theory, Willowman, and of course Kendal, with Galtres looking a possibility too.

Anyone been to any of those before?, or going this year?

Cheers

I`ve never been before but am trying Knockendorroch in May this year. No " big " names but heard it`s family friendly and it doesn`t involve long walks from car to tent plus you can take a refreshment or 2 into the main arena without getting turned upside down by over zealous stewards !

Was also going to Eden in June ( same arrangements plus they have Craig Charles ) but have had to sell my tickets unfortunately. None of these will be a match for Kendal but both would fit with the kids and price range I would guess.

Looks like were just doing Kendal this year due to the arrival of my now 6 week old who's going to Kendal with us in the summer. We did wickerman and Kendal last year which were on consecutive weekends and worked really well with them being fairly close together, unfortunately they fall on the same weekend this year or we probably would have done the same routine again. I have considered willowman and solfest as family festivals as well, who knows in years to come I might eventually get round to doing them as well.

I do Glastonbury as well but that's typically a festival away with the lads rather than a family one.

This will be the 3rd Kendal with my missus....we're also doing Glastonbury with our son & his girlfriend.

Staying off site this year as we're getting too old to do 2 full festival experiences in a year (that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it!).

Evolution is near us Ramragon, we've said we might ride the bikes up the other side (weather!) and have a spy. Lakefest looks decent, too far for us but the watersports look good, and I think I'm too chicken to do a biggie like V or Glasto, maybe in a few years eh

It was being a music and cider festival that first attracted me to Lakefest. With the exception of Chas & Dave, the line up looks okay too.

jamj - I wouldn't take the kids to V unless they are teenagers. It's mainly very drunk/stoned 16 - 21 year old who get a kick out of pissing into cups and throwing them into crowd, girls as well. I prefer a smaller stage like at Kendal where you actually feel part of the show as you are always close enough to actually see the bands. Much friendlier vibe as well. Luckily my daughter is now old enough to go on her own so I won't have to go any more.

Kendal and Glastonbury ?

After the horror of the original ticket day last year I am puting my hat back in the ring on Sunday morning. I know a few ( lucky ) ones from here are already ticketed up but if anyone else is trying then let me know if you want to share resources.

Atleast this time it will only be 5mins of watching my laptop jam and jam and jam without even getting to the main screen as they seem to be expecting them to sell out pretty much as soon as they go up.

Cheers.

I'm still in two minds about Galtres for this year, I've been holding off booking any more as I was hoping James would be announced for something near(ish), they were confirmed for Belladrum this week but it's too far . So I'm still on line up watch for now, ideally I want them announced for Galtres on the Friday.....but I'm doubtful we'd be that lucky!

Cheers. To be honest I`ll be glad when this re-sale is over and I can get back to bed. All this fretting about tickets isny good for your health. According to the other threads I will be out my misery one way or another by 9.10am.

We still don`t have tickets for Kendal / wickerman and cash wise it will depend on this morning I suppose. Kendal definately better line up and 3 days etc and Wickerman closer and more potential folk there to help watch the weans while I accidentaly sneak off for an hour ! Still gutted can`t do both.

The Roses is going to be massive. Think the Horseshoe bar is as good a place for a meet as any. Perhaps you should get the first round in as if you wear your new t-shirt with your political tribute on it you may not see the 2nd round :P Are you and Ramras getting the train ?

I`m too stressed out to get into politics. Just secured a Glastonbury ticket thanks to a total stranger who posts on efest T in the Park. Only got 1 and had to take the coach package plus will have to take the weans by the looks of it ?!?!?!

Off for a lie down. Oh and 1.15pm it is.

Paul, you are the man. As I said to you earlier, I would NOT have got a ticket without your intervention. I was seconds away from giving up as was getting messages saying it was sold out. Your kindness this morning has restored my faith in the human race. The whole glastonbury resale thing is a horrible stressful mess. We will raise a glass to you my friend ( 2 soft drinks if the weans are coming ) and someday the drinks are on me. Cheers ! :D

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
