Campsite options

It's my wife's first trip to Glastonbury (although she's done smaller festivals) and is concerned about where to camp.

When I went in 2009 I camped in the middle of Park Home which was ideal for me & my son but I think it might be a bit too cramped for her.

We were considering one of the Worthy View yurts but due to the debacle of the sale, these are no longer an option.

Where is a reasonable quiet (as in noise) campsite? We know that it's gonna be crowded no matter where we camp, but where would be a good idea for a more relaxing nights kip? (we're not averse to a fairly lengthy walk so it doesn't have to be within minutes other Pyramid/Other stages.

If youre taking your son again then you could go to family camping, the new one, i believe its called wicket ground or something similar. We camped there in 2011 n it was spacious, quiet n not too far from the pyramid stage.

Hmm, I'm not sure. There were plenty of people in there who didn't appear to have any young children with them, although it would be a bit unfair I suppose. In that case I would say the further out yiu are the more spacious it is.

Our favourite camping was up at the top of Big Ground - to the right of the 24 hour cafe as you walk up the hill. Lots of space, reasonably flat and flood free with the advantage of being near Flushing Meadows (proper toilets that were still clean at the end). Also not far from ATMs and a Police Point.so relatively touble free.

In bushy ground where we camp there were quite a few family's around us and it fills up fairly slowly so you should have a bit of space. It's also pretty quiet but the pyramid stage is quite a walk. The other stage isn't too bad and the dance village is close. At least it is if the layout doesn't change..........

There are still 4 person yurts available at worthy farm? Surely that's what you'd need anyway? It's only the 2 person ones that have sold out.

We camped in Bailey's, which I don't think is actually named on the site maps. It's on the south west side, further out than Dairy.

We found space near gate E access to the West campervan field, so there was 24 hour stewards around nearby. Made us feel a bit secure, although tent security is always a bit dodgy.

PS don't tell anyone else our secret location! Ha ha.

Camped at Big Ground (in the middle) 2007 and every year since. I would say it's very popular and quite noisy, fills up pretty quickly as well but has the advantages mentioned above

For me I'd like something a little quieter.

So it looks like me and my mates are going to be arriving early doors Thursday morning 9/10. Now we have 1 big tent! It's one u can stand up in and for 6 people, and a couple of small ones

Now what's the chances of finding a gap for them? And where would be the best place. We didn't arrive till late Thursday last time and it was a nightmare!!

Hello, his will be my first glastonbury and im incredibly excited. i know it depends on the walker, buy approx how long would it take to walk to either Big Ground, Woodsies or Hitchin Hill from A gate? We're being dropped off, so can't go back to a car unfortunately,but we will be travelling light. And approx how long would it take to get to Arcadia for example, from the top of the site?

Sorry for so many questions,I'm just an organised person and I like to plan ahead. Many thanks!

Don't bother with Kidney Mead. Cramped, popular, on a hill & gets traffic going to & from Pyramid to the naughty corner.

I'm wondering this too- I bought a beast of a tent (it's a massive 6 man) and want to go for the Big Ground. We're leaving the local travelodge at 6am so should hopefully be in early but I'm wondering with the Wednesday night queuers would I be better off going for something a bit further out? There will be 3 tents in total and we want to pitch close together but are arriving sepearately so I don't want somewhere that fills up too quickly.

So to ask my question again. If we turn up at 10am Thursday morning with a large 4/6 man tent (1 u can stand up in) will we find a spot to put it up in? And where would be the best place to aim for?

You will find a spot somewhere, but it might take a little while. You can ask at the campsite info points about where has space left, but I'd have thought the Hitchin Hill corner or Dairy Ground would be your best bet.

You'll get a better and a whole extra day of Glasto if you turn up on Wednesday, so you should really do that if you can.
