Jay subbed that to Coldplay did he not? Which makes it very different. Co-headlining Coachella is also a substantially bigger booking for the American market (which would be his focus), than subbing Reading is for the British market.

I simply can't see why a well renowned businessman, and allround bit of an egotistical nutter (a great one at that), would take a lower slot than someone he's probably currently bigger than, and sacrifice his renowned stage show more than likely, for a shorter set time, and smaller fee, when he's headlined some of the biggest venues in the country (the o2, Hyde park etc.)

Unless (puts on gangster voice):

Melvins got the Benjamin's.

I may be wrong ofc.

If R/L are going to book any hip hop act, I hope they'd book a newcomer rather than another big act. Flatbush Zombies wouldn't be too bad to watch, in fact they're the only hip-hop group I find listen-able at the minute, they deserve some cred. Would probably put on a better show than OF last year.

...I do wonder what would please some Reading fans. Maybe it's time to start going to another festival eh?

We don't want Biffy or Mumford they're not big enough or good enough.....we don't want the Cure because we don't know enough of their songs, we don't want Eminem he's past his prime and too poppy, we don't want the Arctics or The Killers or Kings of Leon, they've played too much, we don't want Arcade Fire because we don't know any of their songs. Who the fuck do people want? Led Zepplin with Jesus on drums?

When he was announced I was over the moon - wasn't expecting to hear his name called and he's one of the few acts on my must-see list that I've not yet managed to. Then I've seen that his set's roughly 50% from his first three albums, which is about 3 times as much as I was expecting. The only down point is the potential for some muppets in the crowd, but if that's the case then I'll probably just move away from them.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
