Endorse It In Dorset calls it a day

So, the good people of endorse it have decided to call it a day...

I'm genuinely saddened by this news. Gutted, I'd go as far as to say.

Endorse it 2007 was my first festival (except some fence jumping and dance festivals in the 90s/early 2000s - can't remember much of those), and in some ways will always be the one I enjoyed most. It opened my eyes, and is directly responsible for the near obsession with festivals that I have today.

We turned up with basically nothing , the sun shined throughout, the people were wicked, and the music opened all sorts of doors for me. I can still remember exactly who played, and the people we met. I was buying early birds on day of release from then on.

Me and my girlfriend said we came back from that weekend changed people - better people. It's not that the lineup was the best I've ever seen, but there was something difficult to quantify - hard to explain now even. I imagine most readers of this forum will have an idea what i mean. It's the thing about festivals which is bigger than any of it's constituent parts - the thing that makes them so special.

bit of a dribbling rant I know, but I just wanted to say thank you to Endorse-it. I will always remember it very, very fondly.

if you love reggae, I'll suggest One Love ... it's bloody brilliant.

And way ooop norf there's Solfest.

I'm knocking lots of fests off my I'll-go-to-that list at the mo, because they're too posh or too family friendly (and the resultant hassles that come my way as a result) ... I've found a very happy replacement one for one of those with One Love.

The number of festivals that I'll go to thru choice (rather than job) nowadays is surprisingly small. They just ain't what they used to be.

Very sad news.

As a fairly experienced festival goer I couldn't believe my luck when I was recommended a wonderful, small, family friendly festival just a few miles from my home town of Bournemouth.

I took the chance and my youngest and we loaded up and went for it. I should point out here that my son is Downs, diabetic and a bit deaf but he does love music - although he refuses to dance to anything other than ska :)

We always had a fantastic time (even the stupidly muddy Buzzcocks year) and he's very proud of all his Endorset t-shirts and cds, although he'll be pleased not to be dragged around Boscombe's charity shops trying to find me a dress again!

Thanks for some superb weekends everyone involved, everyone we met and particularly whoever handed in my phone last time biggrin.png
