I'm really into listening to Ill manors at the moment. I think that Ben Drew is a real raw talent. The boy can write really cutting lyrics, can sing, rap, act, direct. I would love to see him at Glasto and no doubt will. But, i don't want it to be on the Pyramid. In 2011 i think the last performance wasn't good on the Pyramid, it was to big for him. Too big a crowd, and the wrong crowd waiting for something else. Will Ill manors lend itself to the Pyramid, i don't think so. It's a social commentory on today's Britain from the perspective of the youth in broken Britian. No matter what your political leaning it has some cracking tunes on it and some hard core lyrics, i think better suited to a nght time slot headlining the JP, not in the middle of the day. The defermation of Strickland Banks had more of a softer feel that came over to the wider audience where i don't think this will.

I don't know really, bands like the Doves played the Pyramid before they headlined the JP, i just think that this album would lend itself to having a screen as a backdrop. He uses a lot of guests on this album such as Kano and John Cooper Clarke, both unlikely to be there so he could use the screen at back to tell the story . It would have a better atmosphere at night and is cutting edge enough to be very current. As for ME wanting to try new things, when was there last a rapper/ singer headlining the JP? I still think the hugh Other and Pyramid fields are to big.

Totally disagree that he can't sing and rap, have a look at this ( sorry i don't know how to post the url) , and don't tell me that this would not translate over in the JP, this gig almost could have been. I think it's a great shout and could happen! Some poeple said Marshall Matherson could't rap becuase he was White but it was the message in hos music that said it all.

any idea when Johnny Clarke was last at Glasto? i have his 1981 show, but can't find much since then. surely he must have been there in the intervening years?

I've been to every Glasto since '86, and can't remember him having been there in all those years (tho it's possible he did).

He played Shambala in 2011 and was superb (with Dub Ashanti backing him), and played Bristol's VegFest this year (with Soothsayers backing him) but that wasn't as good.

It's not because he's white, Eminem could rap, he can't. There's plenty of brilliant white rappers past and present, this kid just doesn't have it. People like Eminem, The Beastie Boys, EL-P, 3rd Base, Aesop Rock, Abdominal & Decisive. Plenty of white rappers. His style is whack and his is flow is poor, his voice lacks so much when it comes to singing. He needs to take his little Reggie / Ronnie kray attitude and sort his head out. Some people can do both but it's very rare you get someone who can both sing and rap well. The greatest at it in my opinion is this badboy R.I.P O.D.B
