Stage distance/Walking times

I remember a couple of years ago there was a topic on here about the times it took to walk from stage to stage when it was busy and when it was quiet. For example it takes 20 mins(made up number) to walk from jp to acoustic when its empty but 45 minutes when there are crowds. I have had a good search through the previous topics but can't find it. Anybody help?

I've spent the past few years rushing from one band to the next when realistically i can't make it, so i thought if anybody has a copy or knows where there is one maybe this could be avoided next year.

Easy way around that, jump on the monorail

All depends on ground conditions- took me about 15 to get from JP to Pyramid, in crowds, in 2010 but about 40 last year!

My own estimates in the day/crowds

Pyramid to other 10-15m

Acoustic to pyramid is about 20 mins in crowd,

Pyramid to JP is 10 - 15m

Other to Park 20 m

West holts to other down through markets 20m

Add a extra 10-15m if going towards stage when big bands playing

How long roughly would it take to get from one side of the site to the other? I keep seeing people saying they had to walk for 2 hours, is it really that big?

Maybe to walk the whole site, but I doubt one side to another? I don't think it would ever take you more than 30 mins between stages- didn't take me any longer than that to get from pyramid to the park when radiohead were about to start, and that was rammed. I think.

I suppose if you took a slow walk trudging through mud,in large crowds from say Worthy FM over to the Stone circle or The Park then yes it could take you 2 hours

Yea not too long - but if it's a really muddy and wet year..well AGES

The problem is there's so many distractions you end up taking twice as long as you planned to get anywhere and miss loads

First time I ever went, I worked in a Lockup, got down on the Wednesday and were camped up by the farm.

My girlfriend of the time came down amd I met her by the stone circle at 6.30 the next morning.

I reckon that trek (given that it was my first time on site), took easily two hours, so that's pretty much one side to the other.

That was before the Park Stage etc

From the smaller CV field (so the Westernmost bit) to the Pyramid was about an hour in the worst of the mud last year. I can't think why you would then want to go all the way to the East, but another hour seems about right.

You can't walk in a straight line. If it is very muddy you have to stick to the paths and there will be thousands of others shuffling in your way. You might have to wait for vehicles or to cross a particularly wide lake of mud.

Took us 2 hours to get from pyramid after U2 to the west campervan field last year but it was sheeting it down at the time!

The mud is a massive factor. In the event of a sticky mudddy one ( like most years !) sometimes need to plan the day differently and I end up jibbing some of my plans. Last year wanted to go from the park from the Pyramid and back again for one act but it really was an impossibility in the time available.

I do hope you're right. Of course, if there's no rain then all the journey times go up as you can just sit on a bit of grass and chill whenever you feel the need.

Haven't you heard? There's no mud at all, it's a promise from Mr. Eavis even if it pisses down there's not gonna be any mud, they've got rid of it all.
