Van Halen

Tool

Maiden

Would be my prediction. Possibly with Rammstein instead of Tool as I'm starting to doubt we'll see Tool again for a while, if at all.

Ideally I'd have

Foo Fighters

Tool

Maiden

But I don't know if booking the Foos is in Download's power!

I'm hoping Slipknot stay away for a couple of years before coming back. I thought they were pretty average by their (high) standards, I know the circumstances were difficult what with Paul's death, and I hope it doesn't sound cold to say that they need a decent replacement before appearing again.

It would please me greatly if the likes of Evanescence, Manson, Incubus and the other terrible live acts that Soni booked, stay well away from Download again.

And no way should BFMV ever be considered headline material, certainly not before Machine Head are anyway!

I think the next time Download books a headliner that has headlined in the last 5 years they have have to book another 2 that have never headlined before, it should be a new policy to keep things fresh.

..... and then a year later they have to shut down because they can't get a decent headliner.

The sad fact is that the only future* it has is to have the same headline acts on rotation.

* I'm more than happy for Andy Copping to prove me wrong about that. Bet he can't tho.

How many potential new headliners are there for Download anyway?

I can think of this lot...

Foos

Muse

Blink

Biffy

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Rammstein

Paramore

Avenged Sevenfold

Van Halen

Green Day

Rush

Ozzy

Pearl Jam

Bon Jovi

Nickleback

Sex Pistols

Pendulum

Why is that suddenly a problem now? Surely it's always been that way.

Ive always expected a certain amount of repetition at DL and the fact half the line ups are playing music for well over ten, twenty, thirty years ago goes to show theres not a huge amount of new rock or metal coming through.

Besides, there will be more bands to choose from if Soni doesn't return.

    • 1. Baby Dave - Billy 2. A - Prang   Not really got round to listening to many more in May so not really fair to vote but shoutout to EPs from Bleech 9:3 - Bleech 9:3 & Villanelle - Measly Means
    • Guitarricadelafuente was bloody brilliant tonight. This is going to be a very Spanish focussed year for me. Rusowsky dragging out Las Ketchup on Saturday has the potential to be a Prima magic moment.
    • £112 for standard entry. No thank you.
    • Meanwhile Gracie Abrams is £92 for the cheapest with the average price around £160 for lower tier and £103 standing.   First time in a while I've gone from a definite yes to a definite no on price alone.   Amble was £31 this morning.
