Sonisphere booked three headliners that most of it's audience would have seen up the road during it's 'fallow years'.

it's evident that each festival has had a struggle to book a decent trio this year, must be lack of acts I reckon.

It's not just UK festivals though, most festivals worldwide seem to be doing repeats (coachella, Benni, Rock Werchter).

Repeats are only a problem if it doesn't sell out and people will pinpoint that as the reason. The likes of werchter and coachella sell out so you can't use that as an excuse.

Probably, but it is really boring and unoriginal and as someone stated the rest of the line up suffers. Could have got NIN!

Soni missed a trick a reckon. They had the opportunity to move away from being a below-par alternative to Download and go right down the middle of Download & R/L.

I reckon if they'd gone something along the lines of;

Biffy Clyro

Pixies

Foals

Slayer

Pearl Jam

Deftones

Mastadon

Fall Out Boy

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Chase & Status

Alice in Chains

Frank Turner

They'd be a much better alternative, and it could be sustained. As it is I can't see basically booking bands Download don't want is just destined to fail again.

(Obviously I'm assuming they didn't try & go for the above line-up or something similar. They might have done & everyone got better offers but I'd say thats unlikely)
