In regards to the Libertines do people seriously think Festival Republic would shell out for them again so soon & have them headline this time? Are they any more in demand than when they subbed off the back of their reunion in 2010? Granted they put on a bloody brilliant performance & I was happy to be there, but come on guys...

They may be booked in a similar/the same slot due to being booked before the album came out, but they're not the same size. Bastille have had much more radio play & mainstream exposure than Spector, tribes, howler & Palma Violets. Plus their album charted much higher, sold more & produced more successful singles.

I never said they were the same size as Tribes etc, but they're the same as Palma Violets. Bastille may have more Radio 1 airplay, but Palma Violets have far, far more NME backing. They're equivalents.

Either way you look at it they're both over-hyped anyway.

Bastille have a debut number 1 album & a single that's charted at number 2, being held off only by J.T's Mirrors. Palma Violets debut album charted at number 11 & produced no mainstream hit singles at all. Oh & NME backing means fuck all anyway, look at how it worked out for Viva Brother.

So yeah, you're wrong.

I don't think RHCP are suited to any festival in the UK anymore really.. if Sonisphere was about this year i'd have guessed they would of been there. I saw them in 2011 at the O2 and thought they were good but from what i've heard they really have no way of coming back from that performance in 2007

    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
