New Announcement...

I think 2 day tickets would be a bit pointless though, at that point you may as well just do the whole weekend as there's bound to be something for you :P

Turbonegro have some festival news coming up - seems likely they'll be in tonight's announcement, ex label mates with Hives and Refused, so can see it happening

Saturday, buddy!

Electric Wizard, Kevelertak, Glassjaw and HR playing albums in full, are all big yes's from myself. The rest is alright, not too much grabbing my attention, Skindred and BSC should be fun, though to be fair a lot of the bands are smaller stages in this one it seems, Alestorm opening Saturn should be great fun as well after their reception last year. Overall pretty solid announcement, a few nice surprises, but nothing massive other than GJ, HR and Electric Wizard for me!

Legendary post-punk heroes NEW MODEL ARMY join the SONISPHERE cast for a very special late night set on Friday night in BOHEMIA after headliners KISS wrap up the APOLLO stage.

CROWBAR:their exclusive festival appearance will test BOHEMIA’s structural integrity to its limits.

well that aint gonna sell any more tickets is it?

Ive got 13 mates who were waiting for the initial announcement, none of them are going now, and this wont change that. and whats with the "playing x in full" trend? its pointless, unless you are metallica sized. even mastodon doing the hunter is a bad idea imho, and I love that album.

I think I was one of the few people who were really happy with the first announcement....but this one is just so "Meh".

Would have thought that the Soni crew would have wanted to announce at least one other big big band to shift some more tickets. This feels like it should have been a third of forth announcement.

Meh, to be honest I've given up on Soni now and just checking to see what bands are announced to rule out of other fests and hopefully the ones that are announced will help keep tix prices cheap so I can go on Sunday for Refused.

Still some decent spaces to fill - only one act for Apollo in the last announcement - so a couple to go for Sat and Sun, plus the special guests on the Fri. Prob another 3 or so on Saturn too.

But agree, the announcement largely was a bit of a let down. Some good acts there, and fills out the fest nicely for me, but was hoping for some of the bigger names.

I can't say I am that arsed with the latest announcement, I finally saw Glassjaw at Leeds Festival last year and have to say I was really disappointed as they just played new material and b-sides and the crowd was one of the smallest in the NME tent for the whole weekend, hopefully they will be much better here.

Anyone think they will be giving away tickets this year like they did in the early years?

    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
    • And all (or all but one) of the secret sets repeats though?
    • 1. Coming with my sister (our 4th Sziget together) 2. 3 days (Thursday-Saturday). Would rather do Tuesday-Thursday but not enough AL 😞 3. Wednesday evening  4. Apartment  5. FATM (will be my 10th Florence’s gig) 6. Parcels/Paris Paloma
    • Temperature was the main issue - luke warm at best
