I did it last year in the end. There were several mates who were umming and ahing, so I just booked my ticket and figured I'd try and persuade them slowly. Never happened so I just went on my own. Perfectly fine, got chatting to the people I was camping near, and had a great laugh.

If you want to go, do it. You should find some friendly people to be single-serving friends. :)

Your not alone :D

I am very tempted by it, infact I am ready to throw money at them to go...but friends are so keen :(

its hard enough persuading people with the big festivals let alone trying to convince them this is a fantastic line up!! so hoping to sort something but just be brave and go it alone.

Really depressing, especially on Monday when everyone's left you to clear up their shit in the pissing rain.

I'm the only one of my regular group to get a ticket so far, usually 5-7 of us, we'd welcome other campers to make a mini efest camp (there's a Besti forum camp too).

If you can't get your mates to go, just go by yourself. Bestival was the 1st time I'd camped on my own at a festie (I've gone for days before a few times), and I still had a great time. I'd still be reluctant to go to some fests on my own, but I'll be going to Besti this year whether I can get mates to come or not.

At the minute it's looking likely that I'll be going on my own. My girlfriend keeps putting off buying a ticket for money reasons (same as I should have done really, if I were sane) so by the time I think she'll have it sorted, most of the tickets will have been bought up. That said, Bestival itself didn't properly sell out until about late July last year (I think) so there's still hope.

If I do go alone, however, I won't mind. Last year I saw loads of people camping on their own. Bestival being as friendly as it is, I don't think anybody should feel intimidated by the prospect of going there alone.

Going on your own is fine, I did it 2 years ago. I had intended to camp with the Bestival forum lot, but ended up camped in the wrong spot, but everyone around me was friendly.

The Bestival forum group have an area marked out for them to camp in, it's a great place to aim for if you're on your own, and I know a few eFesters who normally camp there too.

I'm going alone and I'm a bit terrified at the prospect if I'm honest!

My friends are always unreliable and I know that if I waited for them to make up their minds then I probably wouldn't be able to get a ticket to any festival, so I just went for it and got one. Not the best at socialising so the whole 'go up to people' thing is not something I'm looking forward to.

Hopefully camping with Twitter folk though, so it's not all bad.

I bought a ticket last year as I had a few friends who wanted to go. In the end they decided against it so I was thinking about going by myself. After much deliberation I decided against it and have regretted the decision ever since.

This year I have a ticket again and am trying to convince my friends to go either way, I will be there.

Thinking about the time I spend at festivals with my friends half the time I'm on my own at another stage anyway and I'm the one who goes out after the bands have finished when they go to bed. The only thing I'm bothered about is the traveling really. If I get the coach I can just jump on, take a good book if there is no one interesting to talk to and get some much needed sleep before the mayhem starts.

If you are considering going by yourself trust me, do it, you will regret it if you don't. When people talk about that cure headline slot I have to walk away, I could have been there, should have been there. Don't let it happen to you.

I think it will be ok going on your own because I am sure there will be some cool people to talk to when you get there.

I live near the island on the mainland and was going to just go each day from home but think it will be better to camp.

Maybe all the people who are on their own shoul tie a ribbon on their tents and then we all know who is on their Todd lol.

Thinking of taking the plunge this year and going to Bestival on my own, New Order and Sigur Ros are too good to miss! Anyone willing to take in a 19 year old, bearded loner with a straightmancrush on Jonsi?!

    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
